Depends on what you want out of a watch. Do you plan to resell it and not get slaughtered with a 50% loss? If reselling is important to you, only buy
- Patek Philippe (avoid Calatrava)
- Audemars Piguet (Royal Oak and Royal Oak Offshore)
- Vacheron Constantin (only the sporty Overseas lineup)
- Rolex (Avoid all gold models)

The steel sport models are the ones that retain value the best if you can buy one at retail price

If you bought one 30 years ago and wore it everyday you could still sell it for double of what you paid for it today
