Breaking TODAY : PAP MPs show no respect in Singapore Parliament

Yeah they should do something like that, no show of 3/4 of the MPs is really disrespectful of Parliament, definitely not right and ought to be penalized.

MPs write in beforehand to get permission to be excused from sessions.
I think speaker is the one who approves.
The speaker of the house should get fuck instead for allowing so many MPs to play hooky

Who is the speaker?

What if Speaker receives a stack of exuses from LKY, LHL, GCT and their pets? 75% absteeism is serious matter worse than parliamentary boycott. I suggest same criteria be applied to MPs as applied to commoners, excuse only by MC or travel abroad. This is no joking matter but yet laughable. I think this is the first time in world history when more than half of members from ruling party are absent from session!

Well protocol states speaker should have the final say....but well sinkieland being a absolute monarchy we all know all these is wayang...if minority elected president is jiaoliaobee then dun expect much from the speaker.

Duties of the Speaker

The Speaker presides over the sittings of the House and enforces the rules prescribed in the Standing Orders of Parliament for the orderly conduct of parliamentary business. Elected at the commencement of a new Parliament by MPs, the Speaker may or may not be a Member of Parliament, but must possess the qualifications to stand for election as an MP as provided for in the Constitution.

In carrying out his duties in the House, the Speaker must remain impartial and fair to all MPs. The Speaker regulates and enforces the rules of debate. He decides who has the right to speak and puts the question for the House to debate on and vote. The Speaker does not take part in the debates of the House but can abstain or vote for or against a motion if he has an original vote as an elected Member. As the guardian of parliamentary privileges, MPs look to the Speaker for guidance on procedure and he gives his rulings on any point of order, if necessary.

The Speaker acts as the representative of the House in its relations with other Parliaments and outside bodies. The Speaker also welcomes visiting dignitaries and represents Parliament at national events and during official visits abroad. The Speaker is overall in charge of the administration of Parliament and its Secretariat.

The Speaker is assisted by two Deputy Speakers.

Relaid la. When the opposition got something btter to talk about, people will show up one.

In proper Westminster style systems, the speaker is suppose to be independent and sides with no political party or PM. Eg. UK's Speaker John Bercow, who was a Conservative but now as Speaker, is hated by David Cameron. In undemocratic Singapore, all speakers are beholden to the PAP.

I think we should use the video of empty parliament more frequently now and showed the voters what it meant by PAP first world parliament with empty drivers.

What driver? Our country is ran under auto-pilot.

They dont like lui tuck yew la :D

Tuck Yew said the SMRT was wrong, LTA was wrong and the Ministry was wrong. The PAP MPs do not like to be found wrong in so many ways.

Actually parliamentary attendance is suppose to be done by the party whips. WP MPs don't have a whip since there's so few of them. PAP MPs supposedly have several whips but the king whip is KY.

We know how bad you are hoping to get "Relaid", you'll need a cannister of KY for that.

It's "Relac Lah", you piece of dry leather........
