That's the problem when you select your generals based on their ability to take "A" level maths and once placed in the organisation, promoted on their level of skill to push papers around, wayang, polish your PAP's liasion backside and siam targeting by immediate superiors.

A professional army on the other hand has people willing to join it for a career. They select their officers on the basis of leadership and combat skills. Frankly, all the Indon generals I have seen, look battle hardened. I guess you have to be when you deploy and fight all over Indonesia, fighting conflicts in Papua, East Timor, Acheh, Moluccas,etc.

They are poorly paid, this I know. Most of them moonlight as bodyguards, bouncers in nightclubs, security for estates etc - from indon business sources this is accurate. Nothing beats an indon battalion providing security for your strip of nightclubs - you pay off the police and army chaps, that's the way it goes. Same for your mining and logging business
