All figures bad except for the hdl and trigly

End June

total cholesterol = 171

hdl = 44

ttl/hdl ratio = 3.9

ldl = 109

trigly =89.

During this 2 month period ......cut down on seafood , especially the shellfish. No zhi zhar . Took 2 tablets of red yeast supplements everyday.

Took organic honey/powdered cinnamon......1 glass every 2 days.

Looks like it worked....the only downside is that the hdl dropped by quite a bit. It used to be in the 60s but now 44. Dunno the reason for that....perhaps the supplements.

hi bro....nothing wrong at the moment....but 2 mths ago these reading reflected a high coronary risk......can get heart attack if i see some

of the pics some bros post here on sbf.

I had previously started a thread 少鹽少油 because of this condition.

The readings are much better now.....all in the normal and acceptable range.

High cholesterol ...if you have time you can google it for more details but it could result in heart attacks and strokes.

I had started this thread to share with you guys in general....but particularly with the older guys like me who may have cholesterol issues.

Some may be interested in the supplements and/or the honey and cinnamon.

Bro ...if you havent done a cholesterol check please do one soon just to get your profile and assess your risk.

ah i see. ya better to make adjustments to your diet and lifestyle early. my uncle got a heart attack at 50; non-smoker, fond of seafood and fatty meat but moderates himself, exercises quite regularly, so we were all shocked when he got admitted.

i haven't had a health check in years... perhaps it's time to have one done. thanks for your timely post!

ah sure thing bro do that....

cholesterol issues and other major ailments such as cancer can start quite early in one's life.

Cholesterol and Blood pressure however are among the easiet to track and monitor....so why not.

What's the point in knowing? You aready know it yourself better than any health checks.

This is something I also wanted to say but I guess TS would be offended by such truths. (Sinkie like to hear half lies instead).

Coronary disease is an inherited condition which one cannot hope to avoid it's ill effects but die from it.

You might improve your chances of extending a few more years ( not more than 10 years) if you are so careful in managing it but you'll still circum to it finally.

Some idiots of course would 'donate a large chunk of their wealth' to heart specialist in trying to change their fate.

But ppl are such, if you were to reveal the truth as to how they will die they will never want to accept it!

No bro....no problems with hard truths. If you are right then i will definitely accept your inputs..

What you are saying about inherited condition is the genetic component of the risks. That cant be helped very much.

Lifestyle can though.....eating healthily, less stress, sufficient rest and a positive outlook.

What you can help ...you should do.

Cholesterol and BP checks cost very little.

i don't already know what i have or don't have, honestly. the point in knowing early, for me at least, is so that i can take preventive steps now to avoid a full blown condition which i may be at risk of developing. if i already have something, early detection gives me the opportunity to seek treatment early.

we all die eventually but who wants to die earlier (ie in their prime, with young children etc) and probably painfully from something which one might've been able to avoid?

Well, you're right in a way.

You see the problem of the human body is, it is hampered with all these conditions and when you control one or some , it starts another or change to another.

Some wise men have said, it is not so much as only controlling your type of food intake and lifestyle, it is an entire mind set thing that you need to looked at life differently and to understand that all these modern lifestyle ill effects, including what and how you think.

Ill effects like including like surfing the web for THIS web SITE!:biggrin:

Must be that with all the rith combination, then it can relief your stress level or some unseen ill effect and to provide you with a healthy change both in mind and in body.

yes bro...detecting early is important. Its not only about dying.....the worst case scenarion is if you dont die but become a living vegetable

It will cause a lot of difficulty for the others in the family to take care of you....not to mention money spent too.

Early detection and prevention is better and cheaper than cure or subsequent attention.

haha ya....garbage in ....garbage out....health drop...especially mental health.

Ya ...have to get the combination right for good health.

I think it begins mentally.....good outlook of life, realistically optimistic etc etc....but good physical care is important too.

cholesterol is needed to repair your body...........especially insulating nerves and repairing blood vessels........
