Big fight among a group of cyclists on Tues

Like everywhere else, there will be few that think they own the roads and have the right of way.

heheh... just don't make cyclists pay road tax can already, saves any line of argument that they pay road tax too :):):)

Hello to all. Found this thread on search when I typed in Joyriders and this is too juicy to pass up, so thought i'd add my $0.02. She's not only making money from the jerseys - companies who want to "sponsor" the club by having their logos on the back have to fork out at least $5k! Some people have complained about her hard-sell tactics as well, which is not surprising as I hear she does at least 500 sets per printing run and keeps getting overstocked. She will usually pressure them with "you join the group for so long already but don't have a jersey, buy one and support the group lah". Well the money supports nothing but Joyce's bank account and her cycling holidays to Europe. Her M.O. is simple - appear in as many public events to drum up publicity for Joyriders, attract as many suckers to the group and push her shitty low-quality apparel on them. Who cares if these new riders don't get socialized properly to the group and riding with them? Even worse is that she pressures older members of the group to "upgrade" their jerseys - there were incidents where she tried to force stronger riders to buy her new jerseys before their races, knowing that they had a good chance of podiuming and thus displaying her new jersey for all to see. I dare say Joyriders has evolved from a small club into her private piggy bank. Oink oink...

Wow your information are spot on.

I also hear that Joyce takes kickbacks for arranging cycling trips outside S'pore and the frequent club gatherings for lunches/dinners.

Of course he can be better than himself if he rides on better (stiffer/lighter) equipment.

Or is he just the stubborn guy who insists he's faster on steel?

If he's got the legs, his dad should buy him better equipment.

They don't have that sort of wealth in NZ. You have to realise that not every country is as successful as Singapore.

Jeremy Yates (NZ), Junior World Champion, won his title on Shimano 105.

With good reason. So what if a few gaps open up on a friendly ride??!! At the end of the day, the same miles have been put in the bank in preparation for the next race. That's where real cyclists do the talking with their legs.

The biggest joke of all is that more $4000 carbon wheels are sold in a month in sinkieland than in a whole year in NZ. That hasn't made sinkies go any faster though. I'm still waiting for a sinkie to appear at the TDF.

same with sinkees and their golf.... have seen so many times that the standard nooby sinkie solution to slices and mishits is to buy the better, more technologically advanced, space-age and obviously more expensive clubs....

no wonder callaway makes so much money

I wonder how well sinkies do in golf. Buy all the most fantastic gear produce fucked up results and then boast on the various gearing brands and all that nonsense. Even back in my sec school days when my classmates were playing football they would be buying jerseys and soccer shoes instead of the usual school canvas shoes cos i suppose students from my school were richer than those from neighbourhood schools and still lost out to others when playing soccer. One of my classmates even wore the goal keepers costume and that was in primary school and our class lost out to other students that were dressed normally in school uniform.

Oh yes, this kind of episode can only happen in Stinkiepore! Best of all it has to come from the so-called Stinkipore's biggest cycling club where
the organizer, Joyce Leong profits for herself more than a $120,000 a year by selling the club's jerseys to her 1300 members at $160 per set.

joyriders...
not surprised at all at what has happened, is happening
typical
no respect for road rules and a bunch of media whores

It's the sinkie mentality: money buys success (purportedly).

not just success,
money buys

class
intelligence
family love
goodness
power
power to intimidate
power to sue
power to dictate

(purportedly)

my (rich) (politically ambitious) family like that

In the wonderful town of Tampines where pavement cycling is supposedly legal, the pavement cyclists should be made to pay pavement tax.
In all other towns, the pavement cyclists should be fined.

Oh yes.. she usually marks up the price of the lunch/dinners by 20% before advertising to the club members. We found out the actual price of group meals when some of us patronized the same place again or by asking the person who booked the place and were quite shocked she was doing this - afterall, wasn't the point of club gatherings to get members to socialize off the bike, instead of lining her pockets? I much prefer ANZA's way of doing things - at least they rip you off upfront with membership dues and are honest about it. Sometimes you get more value than you paid for as well when they organize gatherings.

As for cycling trips, she does that too by organizing trips to races in Malaysia and inflating the cost of the bus trip up - mind you, some of these races are organized and funded by the state govts there and free to join (even for Sinkies). JR apparel is mandatory for those who want to get on the bus. I can honestly say she's burned a lot of bridges by enforcing her party whip on members just so she can earn her kickbacks.

All part of Joyce Leong's MO to attract more suckers to the club to buy her overpriced apparel. She usually sucks up to angmohs as they are more likely to sponsor their logos on her jersey.

unfortunately, there are always suckers who are desperate to "belong"

Hope more cyclist those never follow rule hit by lorry.
See many of them beat red light. Nearly crash into them.

According to one unhappy former JR member who initially assisted her to order the cycling apparels from one garment manufacturer in Shenzhen, her cost for the jersey is only US7 and US$9 for the short.

I hear that the blardy bitch now sells them to her sucker-members at S$180 for a set.

Blardy bitch also makes it mandatory that all JR riders during the weekends and holidays must wear her cheap cycling apparels.

Her ulterior motive is to increase her apparel sales to fatten her pockets.

Pavement pedestrians are silly to be afraid of or intimidated by bicyclists (women and children excluded). Just stick out your leg in full force and kick them onto the road. Whether the next oncoming vehicle is a bus or lorry or car, it's up to their luck or god. You're totally absolved in self defence, whether he ends up maimed or dead.

More drama in SG's "biggest cycling club". Apparently Joyce doesn't like "separatists" and tries a passive-aggressive approach to wrest control back of the breakaway Eastern group, backed up by a few loyal dogs.

Thanks for the FB link. Fucking balls carrier or naive arseholes who dare to claim "we don't charge members any fee at all."

As for the year end lucky draws, I hear that she pesters local bike shops to sponsor for all the gifts.
