Henckels from Germany. Can buy from Robinson.
The basic brand logo is a man figurine. Two grades:
One-man logo, restaurant kitchen grade.
Two-men logo, gangfight weapon grade.

There's a big shop in Trengganu Street, Chinatown, called SingArms, licensed to sell antique and replica weapons. Chinese, Japanese and western swords and sabres are all available, unsharpened. You're not supposed to sharpen it but can go sharpen it later, who knows? There're a few other smaller shops around too. Uncle Yap bought a Chinese sabre. He carries it around with receipt from licensed shop, not scared of police spotcheck.
The sword that one buys in Singapore, including the really good ones made of carbon steel or spring steel ones that are supposed to be kept at home or for display only. Not to be carried around to the best of my knowledge.
Actually the stainless steel chopper from China is still the best. I have been using for 10 years, cut through any bones like tofu and at one time I nearly lost my finger cutting vegetables.

Police : Hello there sir, police spotcheck.
Uncle Yap : What's up?
Police : Why are you carrying a sabre?
Uncle Yap : Look, I got receipt, I bought it from licensed shop.
Police : Yes but you're supposed to keep it at home for collection or display.
Uncle Yap : I'm bringing it to a friend's home for display.
Police : You're supposed to display in it your own home.
Uncle Yap : I'm living in my friend's home. Wherever I lay my sabre, that's my home.
Police : :oIo:
who is this nigger niven?
One of the best knives for its money is the Frost Mora from Sweden. You coulc get either the stainless or carbon steel blades. But they are not designed for fighting, just good cutting.
Bruce Niven is a Scot who was the commander of our Gurkha Contingent for most of its life as a unit. He retired in 2006 in his 70s.
Before being seconded to the GC from the British Army, he had served with some distinction in 22 SAS, among others. You can find out more about him here: http://www.ikosingapore.com/announce060108.html
And I would appreciate it if you didn't use racially offensive language.
