If this is a SAF soldier suicide case inside the camp, you bet there will be an inquiry to the case.

Even it is a case of molest, should not the police relook at the approach at how they handle the case?

If they are indeed professional.... They should do an inquiry and examine areas of improvement.

No one can save you if you are a weakling, even simply asking you questions may be too stressful for weak people.

True... Now get the Home Minister to interrogate the police officers.

If it didn't work, get the PM to interrogate the Home Minister.

According to Mr Lim, police called him three days after Benjamin’s passing, asking for a meeting at the Ang Mo Kio Police Division Headquarters. He said he declined because he did not want to see them at the place where his son was interrogated.

Mdm Teng said she had asked to see the police officer who interviewed her son. “Only he would know what happened,” she said.

It is unlikely the interview was recorded. Outrage of modesty is not a seizable offence under Singapore law unless the alleged perpertrator is caught in the act.

“My son died a very unjustified death,” exclaimed Mr Lim. “Why couldn’t they have waited until school was over? Why couldn’t they have waited till his parents were around?”

“My son died with his eyes open,” Mdm Teng added. Mr Lim had earlier told media that a priest had tried to close his son’s eyes but they kept reopening.

When asked if the family would take action against the police, Mr Lim said, “My family is not so well-to-do so we do not know how far we can pursue the case. But although we are poor, we have our dignity.”

I hope that there will be learned lawyers in Singapore who will take this case on a $2 retainer, and seek justice for this family.

The kid jumped to salvage his family's honour. The father should not use his son's sacrifice to make baseless accusations about the professionalism of our police force. Poverty is not an excuse for one to go around making defamatory statements, especially against our beloved police.

Based on the information currently available through mass media and social media, with respect, I believe that there is no need to have five officers from the Singapore Police Force to attend at the deceased's school, to apprehend him and to arrest him. It read like the police officers may have acted too harshly.

With respect, I believe that the police officers may not have read the rights to contact his parents and a lawyer, before they speak with the deceased and before they arrest him.

I believe that two police officers is more than sufficient, and that the Principal of that school should have sent a teacher, preferably one who knows the deceased, to accompany the deceased, until the deceased's parents arrive at the school or the police station.

The kid's from a low-class neighbourhood school. I am not surprised that he turned out to be a molester.

There is no such thing as a "low-class neighbourhood school".

It is also unreasonable and illogical to assume that students at neighbourhood schools are more likely to misbehave.

Poor doesn't mean he is a molester!

Police must have forced a confession!

A confession under duress, is inadmissible in Court.
Besides, the deceased did not have access to legal counsel.
With respect, based on the available information, I believe that the police officers did not act fairly and professionally.

I think the truth needs to come out from the police now to appease the public and the parents of Benjamin Lim

You must be joking, police appease the public? We live in a police state, police and government in Singapore don't answer to public.

When there is a need, police have to kill criminals or torture them to extra important intel. Life goes on. Why can't they sleep and eat well?

You sound like an unreasonable and illogical individual, who continues to post pro-PAP and pro-establishment messages and comments, with no regard to the facts, the truth, courtesy and respect for common sense.
I rarely post "hate messages" or wish ill will upon any individual, but today, your insensitive messages warrant a restraint and patient person like me, to wish that instead of the deceased 14 year old student, perhaps, that should happent to you.

I don't know what "justice" you're blabbering about because the police have done nothing wrong.

The boy was hauled up as a suspect in a criminal case and investigating alleged offenses is the primary function of any police force.

How would you like it if you had a daughter or granddaughter who was molested and when she went to the police they refused to interview the alleged offender for fear of hurting his feelings. You'd be singing a different tune for sure.

Boths were minors in this case, why was the Boy's Parents not present or a Lawyer, when the Minor was interrrogated and made to sign a confession?

Why did the boy commit suicide if he did not commit the offence? It's simple - he did the crime!

Poor parents. Raised him till he's so big and he go do something so stupid.

An "interview" does not require five police officers to meet and "arrest" a 14 year old "suspect".
I believe that the police officers probably harassed and threatened the deceased to extract a guilty confession.
Does a reasonable individual believe that none of the five police officers have done nothing unfair or that they would not consider fair if they were on the receiving end.
Please ask [GoldenDragon] about some of the SPF's "tactics"

You are a retard, when the shoe is on the other foot and your daughter is the one who get molested, you will sing a different tune, so don't be a idiot.

So you're recommending that if one of your female family members is raped and murdered that the police must treat the culprit with love, care and consideration and he should be told that he is free to go as long as he does not confess???

I pity the boy. The police is definitely in the wrong and amounts to harrassment and bullying and police intimidation. what does a a 14 year boy knows about legal aspect to interrogation. the fact that they send 5 cops just to pick him up, a small boy and immediately during school hours and in front of everyone is a sure sign they are there to intimidimate him into confessing. Why 5 policemen to escort a small boy????? for an unproven act of molest(who knows the girl may be crying wolf and just petty or the neighbour unhappy with arents and lodge a false report).
You don't see 5 policemen when they escort even hard core killers/ murderers or even yang yin or kong hee. these bastards may evn have handcuffed him in front of everyone and in the police station to show off their power. I know some rookie cops like to throw their weight around. hope the parents sue and sue everyone involved. bastard cops.
