Under-fire Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas has called a team meeting to quell dissatisfaction at the club.Villas-Boas wants to stamp his authority as Chelsea prepare to face a tough upcoming five games in the next two weeks that could define his future.
Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper suggests that Villas-Boas feels that he needs to get rid of the cliques within the dressing room.In addition, the Portuguese boss also appears under pressure to feature 50 million pounds striker Fernando Torres more often.
Villas-Boas allegedly believes that turning him into an impact substitute will help him rediscover his knack of scoring goals although the club's hierarchy reportedly want to see the Spaniard play start more games.
With Chelsea fifth in the league, 12 points behind leaders Manchester City after 12 games and with the club also on the brink of being knocked out of the Champions League group stages, owner Roman Abramovich has witnessed the Blues' worst start since he took over.
To make matters worse for the manager, his number two Roberto Di Matteo is understood to be struggling with being an assistant and would like to go back to being a manager again."In football you live in the moment, and Chelsea's moment is negative," Villas-Boas told the Daily Mirror.
"We have to avert the bad results and get into a dynamic of victory.""It’s not about what I expect, it's about Chelsea's expectations. Chelsea's expectations are titles, and at the moment there is no title to play for.""At the moment the negatives are all out exposed, but that doesn't mean we don' have the character to change it."

Fergie won't add to United midfield Sir Alex Ferguson has ruled out the possibility of strengthening Manchester United's midfield during the January transfer window.
For two seasons now, United's midfield has been an area of concern amongst supporters. Most expected a replacement for now-retired Paul Scholes to be introduced during the summer and even on deadline-day the rumour mill was whirring about the potential for a last-minute attempt to buy Wesley Sneijder from Inter Milan.
However, neither Sneijder, nor Luka Modric or Samir Nasri, two other players Ferguson was heavily linked with, were signed. It didn't seem to matter when Tom Cleverley started the campaign so well. But Cleverley has been sidelined by two injuries, the latest of which, to his ankle, he is not expected back from until the Festive programme.
With Anderson now ruled out as well, Ferguson's options have been depleted significantly. Yet the United boss still cannot see anyone around who he could realistically sign that would improve his squad. So, with Ryan Giggs, Wayne Rooney and Phil Jones all capable of filling a central berth, Ferguson intends to stick with what he has got.
"It is dead easy to say you are going to buy a player but it is not easy to buy players for Manchester United, particularly in January," said Ferguson. "I don't see anyone who could make us a better team from the ones who are possibly available.
"I could choose two or three players who I would like to have at this club but they are not available. There would be no point even going there." Ferguson is hardly likely to admit any concerns about his personnel, and in his defence, Michael Carrick in particular has performed well in the last two games and was arguably United's best player in midweek.
However, the Red Devils chief does concede the return of Cleverley would be pretty handy at the end of a typically arduous December period. "We are not as bad as people think," said Ferguson. "Ryan Giggs gives you experience.
Michael Carrick had a bit of a problem with his Achilles in the early season but he is over that now and his form in the last two games has been outstanding. "Darren Fletcher, given the right preparation, is always a very good player for us."But getting Cleverley back at Christmas time would be a bonus because he is such a clever footballer."
The return of Rooney from a hip problem and skipper Nemanja Vidic's availability after suspension offers Ferguson the additional options he needs for their encounter with Newcastle. Although they have a woeful record at Old Trafford, where they have not won for 39 years, Newcastle will be dangerous opponents.
They caused Manchester City quite a few problems last weekend before eventually surrendering their unbeaten record and in Alan Pardew, have a manager Ferguson rates extremely highly. "Everyone has been taken by Newcastle's start to the season and the credit must go to Alan Pardew," said Ferguson.
"When he was at Reading we gave him Luke Chadwick on loan. He was first-class in terms of the information he was giving us. He is very meticulous. "He has grasped the nettle at Newcastle very well and they are all working like Trojans up there."
However, with Manchester City reeling after their Champions League defeat in Naples and having to face another stiff examination at Liverpool on Sunday, now would seem like the perfect time for Ferguson's team to reduce to gap to two points, even if the Scot's sights are firmly trained on his traditional date of assessment, January 1.
"Being there at New Years' Day is the big one for us," he said. "If we are around about the top, the second half of the season presents an opportunity for us. "With the way this club is organised to perform in the second half of the season, it helps us. "That is my aim. It doesn't matter how we get there, or who is around us - Chelsea, Manchester City or Arsenal - as long as we are."
United, Arsenal held; Chelsea win Manchester United and Arsenal dropped two points at home against Newcastle and Fulham respectively while Chelsea beat Wolves 3-0 at Stamford Bridge.
United squandered several chances to draw 1-1 against 10-man Newcastle at Old Trafford. The result leaves them four points behind leaders Manchester City, who play Liverpool on Sunday. Wayne Rooney blasted a free-kick into the wall before he fired the rebound into the area where it hit a Newcastle defender then bounced off Javier Hernandez into the goal.
Demba Ba levelled for Newcastle from the penalty spot after Rio Ferdinand conceded a penalty with a careless tackle on Hatem Ben Arfa before Jonas Gutierrez was sent off for his second bookable offence for a foul on Nani. Hernandez had an injury-time goal ruled out for offside as Newcastle held on for a hard-earned point.

Tottenham beat West Brom 3-1 at the Hawthorns thanks to late goals by Jermain Defoe and Emmanuel Adebayor. The Baggies went in front when Youssouf Mulumbu headed past Brad Friedel in the 10th minute but Spurs levelled the score before half time thanks to Adebayor's penalty. Defoe put Spurs in front in the 80th minute before Adebayor added his second in injury time to seal the win.
Wigan beat Sunderland 2-1 thanks to a last-gasp goal by Franco Di Santo. Jordi Gomez's penalty had put Wigan level after the Black Cats had taken the lead through Sebastian Larsson's close-range strike. Everton beat 10-man Bolton 2-0 at the Reebok Stadium thanks to second-half goals by Marouane Fellaini and Apostolos Vellios. Norwich beat QPR 2-1 at Carrow Road after Luke Young cancelled out Russell Martin's opener before Grant Holt sealed the win. Van Wolfswinkel pleased at United link Ricky van Wolfswinkel is flattered to have been linked with the likes of Manchester United, but insists he is happy at Sporting Lisbon.
The Holland international only joined Sporting in the summer on a five-year contract from Utrecht, but has impressed in Portugal.
He has been watched on several occasions by United in recent weeks and Chelsea have joined their Premier League rivals in keeping tabs on the 22-year-old.
Van Wolfswinkel is reported to have a 22million euro (£18.9m) release clause in his contract, which is around four times the figure Sporting paid Utrecht for his services.
However, he has played down speculation that he could move on again in January after expressing his contentment with life in Lisbon.
"It is good that my name was linked to big clubs such as Manchester United and others in England, but I am really content and happy at Sporting," Van Wolfswinkel told Dutch radio station NOS.
"Things are excellent in every sense. I play for a good club and I am scoring goals because I am taking this satisfaction on to the pitch."
Van Wolfswinkel's representative Louis Laros admitted over the weekend that he did not anticipate any January departure for the forward.
"Chelsea and Manchester United have watched Ricky, like other young footballers in Europe, but I do not expect a possible deal in the January market," Laros told the Portuguese media.
"Nobody has spoken to me directly and Sporting are not interested in a deal at the moment.
"However, in the world of football, it is impossible to say never about a sale."
Sir Alex Ferguson has outlined Manchester United's policy on youth players ahead of the club's Carling Cup tie against Crystal Palace.
A number of players are on the fringes of Ferguson's first team after winning the FA Youth Cup last season, including Zeki Fryers, Larnell Cole, Paul Pogba, Michael Keane and Ravel Morrison, all of whom made their senior debuts in the league cup competition this season.
And Ferguson insists that this represents how the club's famed youth academy, which produced players such as Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs, Gary Neville and David Beckham, is still working."Players are never simply thrown into first team action," Ferguson told United's official website.
"They always follow this step-by-step process."I don't think we've ever been off the mark and given a boy his chance too early. That can be very damaging. If he's not up to the standards we require at United then we don't venture there."
"The last thing we'd want is to humiliate a player. I'm not saying every player I've ever given a debut to has gone on to be a fantastic player at this club, but most of them have at least forged successful careers.""The monitoring system here is good and there's a lot of consistency within our academy staff."
"From there, we'll bring the boy into the first-team training for a couple of sessions. That's what we're doing at the moment with Pogba, Morrison, Jesse Lingard, Fryers, Cole and Keane. They're all training with the first team." "That allows me to see how they cope playing against seasoned professionals, it lets me judge their temperament."
"It allows me to get a far better picture of how they're progressing."And, while this is going on, you hope they're playing well for the reserves and displaying the right attitude and enthusiasm."United host Palace in a Carling Cup quarter-final at Old Trafford on Wednesday.
Beckham: Man City no chance to claim EPL title 29 November 2011
Former Manchester United star David Beckham believes Manchester City have no chance of winning the Premier League this season.
City have made an impressive start to the 2011/12 campaign and are already five points clear of their cross-town rivals after only 13 games.
But 36-year-old Beckham, who won six EPL titles, two FA Cups and a Champions League trophy during his time at Old Trafford, said that despite their vast resources and good team, City would not win the league.
"I don't think Manchester City have a chance," Beckham told reporters in Asia, where he is on tour with current club LA Galaxy."This season they have got a good team and some good players, but Manchester United have more experience and know how to win a championship."
City have been dominant so far this season in the league, taking in an astonishing 6-1 victory over their city rivals, but face being knocked out of the Champions League unless results go their way in the next match against Bayern Munich.
Beckham, who will be out of contract after the Asian tour, has been linked with a host of European clubs including AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain among others. He insists that he needs to be fit and playing to reach the goal of being selected for a "very special" spot on the Great Britain team at the 2012 Olympics in London.
He remained coy about his options for next season, however, saying only that he has, "a big decision to make".
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is backing some of his squad's lesser lights to show what they can do in Tuesday's Carling Cup clash with Manchester City.
The Gunners laboured to a 1-1 draw with Fulham on Saturday after their 2-1 home win against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League on Wednesday, and Wenger will rest several of his big names for the City match.
Emmanuel Frimpong, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Park Chu-Young are all likely to play against Roberto Mancini's side at the Emirates, and Wenger said it was important to give his big names a break."I believe that some players are on the fringe of being really limited," the Frenchman said.
"I will rest some players, but I still want to play a team that has a chance to win the game.""Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Emmanuel Frimpong will play, but I consider them to be first-team players.""Park is adapting to the level he is facing here and he has another opportunity against Manchester City tomorrow night to show that he can do it.
"Wenger predicts Mancini will be resting some of his own key players for the tie, but conceded that would still make the Premier League leaders formidable opposition."What you call a second-string side for Man City still involves some very good players," he said.
"If you look at the team who played Wolves in the last round they still have seven or eight players, who you don't know if they are first or second string.""The good news for us is that we expect to play against a strong side and that we know we will only go through if we produce a top-class performance. Let's focus on that."
"We want to win the match and get through. Therefore, we will try to give absolutely everything."
