Went for my annual check up the other day, overheard a woman, a few seats away from me, on the phone yapping away, lamenting that her blood pressure is on the higher end of 140s/90s, and she went on about her high cholestrol levels and what nots. I turned over and took a quick glance at her, I was taken aback to see that she wasn’t plump or oversized to begin with. What truly shocked me was the fact that she didn’t look over 30 years of age.

Then it was my turn to see the doctor, took my blood pressure, 116/78. Seized the opportunity to chat with the doctor, found out that there’s an increasing trend of younger folks getting HBP- partly hereditary, partly diet and lifestyle to blame. Understanding the P&C of patient data, I probed to check the age range of the youngest patients he had seen with HBP, turned out that the age range of the youngest patients with HBP is in their late teens, albeit the minority in the group of patients with HBP.

Few questions floated in my mind, why are Sinkies so highly strung till you can have folks in their teens with HBP? Are there better ways to educate our folks to lead a healthier lifestyle? Hmm...

High blood pressure per ce itself not a bad thing , it’s actually nature’s way of reacting to where the blood is much needed by increasing the pressure to get better flow ...almost akin to our fever , by itself is a good thing

the worry is the consequences of it ,just like fever .so too high of blood pressure ,if left Long enough Untreated can not only damage your blood vessels , thus causing hem arranges and internal bleeding but enlarging and weakening your heart too

now , if you are in the 60s don’t be too happy over your 116/78 , it’s near perfect and it’s not a good sign ..why ? Because the signs are pointing to Low pressure ...and that is more dangerous than high pressure ...it’s normal for those above 60s to have 130 to 140 systolic and 90 diastolic readings

KNN my uncle think education is always ongoing but only deemed unacceptable KNN

Blood pressure is not a fixed value. It varies throughout the day. Mine ranges from 130/85 to 106/60. The doc told me that was perfectly normal and not to worry about it.

But you took your pressure in a relaxed atmosphere since you must be sitting in the doctors office at least for half an hour but had you walked or drank coffeee just before it would be higher , just like runners can hit 160 or 170 ...even your pressure just sitting and than standing immediately will vary

No body suspect it the comfort food u eat every day? :cautious:

Yup , the signs are drunkenness and gi, if you walk or feel drunk when you never took no beer or brandy and you walk like one that is a sure sign of Low blood pressure , the other signs are blurred vision , lost memory unable to cencetrate sweating and such

Low blood pressure is very prevalent among the elderlies simply because the heart muscle had weakened and unable to react ...ask you doctor or out resident chap in this forum

Kids these days love their bubble tea, and put cheese and salted egg on almost everything.

Fasting will solve those health problems. Not the Ramadan 12-hour intermittent binge eating kind of 'fasting'. I mean at least 2-3 days without eating any food. The 48-hour mark is when those health benefits start to kick in.
