it still come back to the same govt' princple for all citizens; "you die is your own business." all those govt dept of communities, city council for this flood disaster offer very little/no help at all.
quite afew friends of mine had been hit by the flood. their PPOR home and investment properties either suffered eithe massive or total losses. most are expensive places (asians all own ex properties).. st lucia, chelmer, auchenflower, fairfield, west end, west lake river front etc.
Whether you like it or not, you are in the post diasater battle.
Flood affected people should come together to pressurise the retailers/banks/insurance companies/pollies to give you guys a better deal to get out of the situations.
I will not be surprised to see developers/homeowners suing the govt for urban planning into floodplains without informing the buyers, etc.
Retailers who take advantage of flood to jack up prices should be shown the m&d. They should be giving flood recovery discounts - nothing less than 30%.
This is the time to make the public servants work hard. You have consumer rights on your side. http://www.fairtrading.qld.gov.au/
Meanwhile, the state govt should be working on plans on how to help people like you now - Being govt, they will be slow. But the last thing they want are riots on the streets
