Lots of news about our latest new town Tengah but seriously why do we need another town?? Unless the pop target is to hit 10m!
There will be many more NEW towns after Tengah. Sinkies don't need to worry; it's only 10 million (2 million each in the north, east, south, west and central.)Lots of news about our latest new town Tengah but seriously why do we need another town?? Unless the pop target is to hit 10m!
The truth is that the government wants to move the concentration of people away from the central region to the west region. This is part of the Master Plan to decentralize the population density to the west as they plan to create a new second CBD in Jurong Lake District.
If the critical mass is located in the central and east regions, you can imagine the amount of traffic / people movement every work day moving into the west ( second CBD ) to work there. The MRT and public transport system may not have the capacity to handle the load. The solution is to move people to live in the West and work in the West. Tengah is the plan. Tengah will be accessible by the JRL and EW lines which will enable people living there to move to their workplace in and around JLD.
That's just another way of saying the East and Central getting overly crowded with the influx so need to build a new town in the west!
Does the master plan include the vast plots of farm land in Lim Chu Kang?
They can make all the plans that they want but if the current & future PAP are so incompetent that they can't even get the MRT system working properly, just imagine the other things that they'll screw up.
This gov't has already caused so many problems: hepatitis deaths in the hospitals, break downs of elevators, flash floods, a resurgence TB in Spore, increasing foot & mouth problems. zika, riots, crime by foreigners, fires, ....
I agree. Sinkies are so protected by the system that when there is a little disruption to their lifestyles, it can create a mayhem as they feel that they are incapacitated.it's all for the greater and long term good of sg. spoilt sinkies living in protected cocoons and a sealed giant bubble need to build up their immunity systems by re-introducing diseases into the population in order for them to survive in a world of regionalization and globalization.
So tengah will come before or after Ubin?
I think sinkies might not take to idea of staying offshore yet.
Pap need time to sell that idea or build to bridge.
From Wikipedia :
The Singapore Government's development projects on the island in the last few years has been controversial and debate has been able to find its way through government-controlled media. Their main ideas is that the East West Line could be extended to Pulau Ubin from Pasir Ris. Although the government has highlighted the area for future development, the island is unlikely to be urbanised because many foreign tourists visit Ubin and it has become a tourist attraction.
It looks like the redevelopment of Ubin may get postponed as the government is focusing on the main island redevelopment efforts first.
