Another 'chui kong, lampar song' article by Han Fook Kwang on COEs

some of the best driving was the drive to rotorua.
nz, might make a trip there end this year, miss the place :D

enjoy your life there bro. :)

I'm not making a direct comparison. I'm pointing out that those who want cheap cars should emigrate to NZ.

Those who don't like driving and find public transport to be a convenient and cost effective option can live in Singapore by all means. The public transport in NZ is absolutely atrocious and expensive to boot.

Shitty time will only dare to highlight the issue only when the govt have done so.

Time to get used to taking the MRT or bus to work as so many others do in major cities around the world.

This is no longer a reliable option since the SMRT can't even solve the current problems until 5 years later. Then it will take another 5 years to solve the new problems. They are forever trying to catch up.

then how can we control the number of cars on the roads of Singapore?

some sort of means testing suggestion is impending.............................

By having a system of bidding for the right to own a car. It's the fairest system of all.

To begin with COE was/is a bad idea. Vehicle ownership is one of the desires in society. Restricting it isn't wise. But then, Singapore is unique.

Cheers!

Without the COE system, there would be at least 3 times as many cars on the road as there are now. Nobody would be going anywhere.

This is typical of SPH prostitutes. They will condemn a policy as bad shortly after it becomes apparent to all and then praise or encourage another policy that the same masters want to push. You cannot go wrong.

Watch him as soon rather than later he will write about affordable housing after PAP MPs have started making this point.

hi there

1. screw, this is expected from such specimen.
2. everything is under the instructions of its grand master.
3. no running dogs or dafter sheep shall bite the hands that feed it hoh:D

Unfortunately, if you speak to most of the young and a few of the older Singaporeans, owning a car is very high on their aspiration list besides owning condo. It is a measurement of success and proof their capabilities, plus a bragging point. It is somehow ingrained that taking the public transport is 'low class' possibly by the 5C ideology that was pumped into their heads though the media.

Somehow, now, changing all that and encouraging them to take the MRT or buses by telling them that "its a habit used in other countries" and by hiking car ownership costs drastically is going to create a lot of unhappy youngsters and a few unhappy oldies.

ha, ha,ha. so daft. that's for believing in all that sh!t that MSM spews out. they can also twists all the facts and argue this is swiss standard of living. LOL. blardy stupid people to believe in all this cr@p. for once I believe you can bluff ALL the people ALL the time. this onlly happens in sinkieland. all those who also bought thier COEs at 90K can kiss thier hardearned money goodbye. sure this is the swiss std of living promised by the you know who. next they would tell you taking bus /MRT with Banglas is more high class thann driving a merc and some id!iot...oops I forgot ALL idiots would believe it

Just a crazy idea and really thinking out of the box. Ban car ownership. If you need a car, you rent. From a government controlled organization that caps the number of cars depending on the capacity of the infrastructure. The idea is since you don't own the car, your desire to have one is not there and you look at your real need.

How Can That Be Fair !

You should be paying for what you bid for and not paying the least highest price. The French bidding system will only inflat the COE prices further. That means eventually only the rich can own cars. This will mean more citizens will be pissed and more delays and overloading for our lousy transport system.

The COE has already limited the number of cars on the road as described by the tall and Taiwanese looking transportation expert. He said that the Government need not go to the extend to heighten the door step to discourage those who have not had enough cash to buy cars. The quota is already fixed, so there is no way the vehicles will increase on the road suddenly for that month.

You see, he was reminding us of this fact which means PAP has done this on purpose to get rid of the average person to own cars so that the rich can have more chance getting them.
