I know the pap has impoverished many singaporeans. there are many Singaporeans who are poor. But other countries only accept the rich, the qualified and the skilled. The pap welcomes the cheap and the trash.

I am not anti pap. I love Singapore and am pro Singapore. I appreciated what the pap did for Singapore until the last few years. There are many people who are like me...love and pro Singapore but are now disappointed with the betrayal of the new pap.

Many of outsiders don't realise it and still harp that the new pap receives 60% support. Look at PE 2011 and you can tell that it was between 35 to 50%.

Now if GE was held, pap is going to get a very big surprise.

poverty is relative. A poor in SG may be rich in Mumbai or Bangladesh.

I had a chat with a cleaner at Bedok South. He told me that he earns $540 per month but he can still support his family in Bangladesh.

Is he poor by Singapore standard and cost of living? Definitely yes.
But he is better off in SG than in Bangladesh.

Singapore is a pariah.

Many rich Indonesians come and settle in SG. Is that an honour for SG? Definitely no. They come to escape Indonesian laws and this has been a sticking point in Indon-SG relations.

Many rich americans come here to escape high US taxation and not because SG is a better place than America. Is that an accolade to SG? No!

Burger King is contemplating moving its HQ to Canada to escape US taxation. It's a move of convenience and not because Canada offers better business prospect than USA.

We live in an interconnected world. A Singaporean who earns $540 isn't poor either. He may not be able afford the luxuries of life but if he has a roof over his head and has 3 meals a day, he should count his blessings.

We indeed live in a global village. But we don't harbour criminals at our neighbours' expense. Such behaviour is myopic and doesn't augur well for our future.
