The QC on this particular segment of immigrants has slipped way below acceptable levels in the last few years. Ten years ago, 90% of these dickheads wouldn't even qualify for a tourist visa.

LHL and the pap are desperate to get new migrants to shore up their votes.

It certainly isn't ideal but it's better than just leaving the country to the current bunch of sinkies.

Yes, the current bunch is fighting back to reclaim Singapore for Singaporeans. We cant allow Singapore to go to the dogs. We love Singapore and will fight to oust the traitors

I wouldn't lend you the second 10 bucks without taking back the first 10 you borrowed. Math isn't the only rule we follow in life.

Cheers!

With Math skills like yours, you'd think you owed me money after the 2nd loan.

As long as it works, the end justifies the means.

BTW Switzerland voted overwhelmingly not to cut back on immigration. Don't you think Singaporeans should adopt the same attitude?

This shows again how you misinform and twist facts.

The below shows the Swiss back limited immigration:

" Voters in Switzerland narrowly backed a proposal to limit immigration on Sunday, in a blow for the government "

Swiss massively reject 'green' immigration cap as Ecopop goes Ecoflop

GENEVA (AFP) - The Swiss on Sunday flatly rejected a call for dramatic immigration cuts in the name of saving the environment, amid charges the initiative was xenophobic and a threat to Switzerland's economy.

Final results showed 74.1 per cent of Swiss voters spurned the so-called Ecopop initiative, which called for slashing immigration to reduce population growth and urban pressure on the Alpine nation's idyllic landscape.

The Swiss also resoundingly rebuffed bids to scrap special tax breaks for rich foreigners living but not working in the country and to significantly hike the country's gold reserves.

Just under half of eligible Swiss voters cast their ballots in Sunday's vote, which is average in the country where the people are called to the polls every three months to voice their opinions on a seemingly endless range of issues as part of the country's famous direct democratic system.

Although opinion polls had hinted the Swiss would vote "no" across the board, supporters of the Ecopop initiative had voiced hope silent support from the masses would lead to a surprise win.

That happened less than a year ago, when voters in February caught many off guard by narrowly voting to impose quotas for immigration from the European Union, throwing non-member Switzerland's relations with the bloc into turmoil.

The country has been scrambling ever since to figure out how to implement that result without pushing the EU, its main trading partner, to rip up a long list of bilateral agreements.

The government, all political parties, industry, employers and unions had urged voters to reject Ecopop, amid warnings its acceptance would fan the flames of the controversy with Europe.

Opponents had also slammed Ecopop as "absurd" and a threat to Switzerland's economy which depends heavily on immigrant labour.

"The verdict is clear," insisted Swiss Justice Minister Simonetta Sommaruga, who will take over the country's rotating presidency on Wednesday.

But she stressed Sunday's results did not bring into question February's EU immigration quota decision.

Foreign nationals already make up nearly a quarter of Switzerland's eight million inhabitants, official statistics show. According to Ecopop, immigration is adding 1.1-1.4 per cent annually to the Swiss population, putting the country on track to to have a population of 12 million by 2050.

The campaign wanted to cap immigration's contribution to population growth at 0.2 per cent, which would mean a population of 8.5 million by the middle of the century.

"What I'm worried about is a civilisation collapse," Philippe Roch of the Ecopop committee told RTS after the results became clear. "But clearly this text did not convince voters."

As it became clear that voters had massively rejected the initiative, sarcastic tweets flourished carrying the hashtag #Ecoflop.

In all, 59.2 percent of voters also rejected the bid to scrap tax breaks for rich foreigners living but not working in Switzerland, who today can choose to be levied on their spending rather than income.

Switzerland counts 5,729 millionaires and billionaires with foreign passports, who together pay around one billion Swiss francs (S$1.4 billion) in taxes annually.

That is a far cry from what they would have paid had they been levied at the same percentages as average Swiss taxpayers, according to the left-leaning parties and unions behind the initiative.

But backers of the system insist wealthy foreigners contribute substantially to Swiss tax coffers and inject huge sums directly into the local economy, warning many would leave the country if they faced higher taxation.

"People can count," Christian Luescher, a parliamentarian from Geneva for the Liberal Party told RTS as the results came in.

He pointed out that Geneva, where most beneficiaries of the current system live, risked losing hundreds of millions of Swiss francs in tax revenue alone if the wealthy residents packed up and left.

More than three-quarters of voters also heeded warnings from the Swiss National Bank that forcing it to hoard gold and banning it from selling the precious metal would tie its hands and could have disastrous consequences.

Analysts had warned the bank would be forced to buy around 10 percent of the annual global gold production until 2019 to meet that requirement.

Anti-immigrant feeling in Britain is on the rise as more than half want cut in numbers, according to major new research

"Hostility to the current scale of immigration is increasing among the public, with more than half of the electorate wanting a heavy cut in numbers of foreigners allowed to settle in Britain, research disclosed last night.

New findings from the British Social Attitudes survey suggest the mood was hardening even before immigration soared up the political agenda with the lifting of transitional controls on Romanian and Bulgarian workers.

The survey found 77 per cent of people supported a reduction in immigration levels. That comprised 56 per cent who wanted it cut by “a lot” – the highest number on record – and another 21 per cent who wanted it reduced a little.

Numbers backing a substantial cut in immigration have risen from 39 per cent in 1995 and 49 per cent a decade ago.

However, despite claims that influxes of newcomers will depress wages and increase unemployment, the research also found the proportion who believed immigration was bad for the economy had dropped from 52 per cent in 2011 to 47 per cent last year. 31 per cent said migration had boosted the economy."

EU Elections: Anti-Immigrant Wave Sweeps Europe

"The far-right National Front has topped polls in France as countries across Europe have turned to extremist and anti-EU parties.

The National Front led by Marine Le Pen has taken its largest share of the vote in its 40-year history with 25 percent of the votes, according to pollsters. The anti-immigration party has pledged to drastically cut immigration and reduce the influence of Islam. President Hollande's Socialist Party has been edged out into third place garnering just 13 percent of the vote.

At a triumphant press conference, Le Pen, who took over the party founded by her controversial father, Jean Marie Le Pen, heralded a victory and said "the sovereign people of France have spoken loud and clear." She called on the French president to dissolve the country's government and call elections.

"The people have taken back the reins of their own destiny,' she said."This means policies of the French, for the French, by the French. They do not want to be ruled from outside."

Le Pen claims that the party today is removed from its racist and anti-Semitic roots with which it was synonymous under her father's leadership. The results have sent shockwaves throughout Europe heightening concerns that right-wing groups in the UK might similarly have received a boost in votes.

French Prime Minister Manuel Valls said the National Front victory was "a political earthquake in France," while ecology minister Segolene Royale said: "It's a shock on a global scale."

A report by Open Europe said: "Across Europe, all eyes are on the possible surge in anti-EU, populist, anti-immigrant or anti-establishment parties."

There have been a number of successes for far-right and anti-EU parties across Europe, with early indications that a neo-Nazi candidate for the NPD party could be elected in Germany, giving the far-right a foothold for the first time in decades.

In Greece, the anti-Europe Syriza party topped polls with about 27 percent of the vote and the extreme-right Golden Dawn party looked set to enter the European parliament for the first time, with three seats and about 9 percent of the vote.

The party was Greece's third-most popular party and looked set to send three MEPs to Brussels. The extremist anti-Islam Danish People's Party also came first in that country's elections. In Italy, the Euroskeptic Five Star movement was tipped to come second.

A surge in Euroskepticism across the continent led to an increased vote for protest parties -- mirroring the increased presence by UKIP in Britain. The National Front's vote was a full 11 percent higher than the ruling Socialists.

In Sweden, the ant-fascist feminists won their first seat with the party placing in opposition to EU right-wing movements with the slogan, "Replace the racists with feminists!"

No country was allowed to declare its results until the last polling booth closed across the continent -- in Italy at 11 p.m. and at 10 p.m., both local times.

Anti-Immigrant Hate Coming From Everyday Americans

Waving American flags and chanting “go back home,” a mob of protesters stood in the center of a street in Murrieta, California, on July 1, halting three white buses filled with 140 immigrants. The crowd of between 200 to 300 people was enough to force the buses – filled with children and families – to reroute to a San Diego processing center more than 80 miles away.
In communities across the country, agitated citizens are crowding into town hall meetings aimed at preventing detention facilities from coming to their backyards. Concerns about immigrants draining local resources and changing the dynamics of communities are rampant. Clandestine government efforts to set up new detention centers in areas away from the border have also fueled unrest. Yet, unlike some past anti-immigrant movements, most of the protests are not centrally organized demonstrations by militia groups or nativist organizations, according to experts. They are grass roots uprisings by American citizens fed up with a broken immigration system.
A graphic reading, "What we are seeing is there is a lot of anger out there about the failure of the government to resolve the immigration crisis," by Mark Potok, a spokesman for the Southern Poverty Law Center.

“The people blocking buses in Murrieta, California, didn't come from radical groups, they were everyday Americans who were perfectly willing to frighten those children,” says Mark Potok, a spokesman for the Southern Poverty Law Center, a group that monitors the rise of extremist organizations throughout the U.S. “What we are seeing is there is a lot of anger out there about the failure of the government to resolve the immigration crisis.”

[OPINION: Have A Heart, America]

Congress is mulling President Barack Obama’s $3.7 billion budget request to process, house and care for the more than 50,000 young migrants who have come unaccompanied across the border this year. But many communities are rising up against the kids, who are purportedly coming to escape violence or reunite with family in the United States.

“This has struck a chord. The American people feel like this is a real scam,” says Brad Botwin, a leader of Help Save Maryland, a group committed to stopping illegal immigration that is listed as a nativist group on SPLC's website. “These are not refugees in my mind. This is an economic pitfall for the American people.”

In a spring report, the Southern Poverty Law Center noted “nativist extremist” groups have actually been in decline. The extremist groups reached their peak in 2010 when the SPLC counted 319. In 2013, there were just 33 groups left on the map.

Let's be realistic... Singapore needs foreigners whether it is low skilled or high skilled to churn the small economy given its lack of natural resources and innovation. Sinkies, arent the brightest nor the most hardworking people and we need input from outside.

The real issue is quality of input which PAP has difficulty in monitoring. It has given far too much leeway to MNCs and we now end up having sub standard foreigners with dubious qualifications here.

Next is how PAP can offset the high cost of living for Sinkies.

Housing costs, Medical costs, Food costs and transport costs have all shot up like nobody's business. If PAP, doesnt tackle this, then it will kapoot in the next GE.

Has opposition provide good alternative suggestions?

if pap cant tackle the problems, it must admit defeat and step aside.

The opposition will then take over and tackle the problems.

Until the Opposition takes over, it's the onus is on the pap to solve the problems
