Took the mrt today and this is what happened.
I was standing leaning against the wall where the cabins are connected, a family of 3 were nearby (not directly beside me but after the doors), father was seated at the priority seat, mother next to him, daughter (about 5 or 6) was standing between them. Looked like FT from India.
The girl was shouting continuously. Every sentence was a shout/scream. Couldn't even decipher what she was shouting but it sounded like very mundane things, like the station names etc. The people around were looking at her, but nobody did or said anything.
Finally I went over and this is what transpired. I looked at and spoke to the father:
Me: Excuse me, can you please stop shouting.
Man: Huh?
Me: Excuse me, can you please stop shouting.
(I then walked back to where I was standing but heard him say this.)
Man: Why? blah blah blah blah................................... (didn't hear the rest)
Ok, perhaps I made a mistake in talking to the father and referring to "you" (although I thought it was pretty obvious) and walked away too soon. To be frank, I just wanted to make the point, but didn't really want a confrontation, for fear that I would lose my temper and hit him. But interested to know your opinion about 2 things:
1. What did he mean by "why"?
2. What should I have done or what would you have done?
