it is hard to win over the 60% unless the bulk of these 60% got hit badly in their pocket.
this could happen thru the lost of their jobs to foreign trash or being asked to pay more and more e.g. coe, housing and other forms of taxes like property tax etc and yet getting less and less due to their depressed pay.
the bulk of the 60% are under the pay role of the govt and govt related organisations. being ball-less, it is almost without doubt who most of them will vote for.
some have good jobs and have the thinking that oppositions will jeopardise their rice bowl should the mnc started shifting out due to a change of government.
finally the remaining 60% are keen to maintain status quo due to the vest interest e.g. investor in the property market and stock market. in their view, a change of government is likely to be unfavourable to their asset value.
bottomline, it is self interest - that is what majority of the 60% care about.
i have long given up hope of the papaya. during the last election, i have been busy convincing my kawans to give the opposition a go. i did not do well. i hope more of the 60% can come to their senses.
being driven by self interest, only when they are hit badly, then a change will come on. meantime, we have 3 more years to work on the 60%. i hope more will go for the change and vote for the opposition next ge.
i hope more policies screw up and more of these scandals surface between now till 2016. hopefully these 60% begin to wise up. if they are not hit, perhaps if their kids, their other half, their relatives and their close friends got hit badly, may be there is a chance that these part of the 60% might have a change of mind.
