For a start, the opposition must undergo a radical change from what it is now - fragmented and unappealing to the masses. The WP has done well so far and all opposition should help build on that, otherwise there may be tragically zero opposition in future.

All those who lost their deposits in the past elections must call it a day (and for heaven's sake, get lost for good), as the 'market' does not want them. The other strong members and leaders of other opposition should seriously consider joining WP, or SDP. RP as a party and the rest is a waste of time, but Kenneth J is a gem (think independent). Don't waste time and money for nothing. This is the only hope.

The real 'enemy' is not the incumbent party, but the 60.1%. There's no strategist Zhugeliang alive now, but some serious thinking is called for.

In the past, opposition candidates use to bark passionately and ferociously at the incumbent in rallies. But that only turns off and frightens the meek masses away in spite of the truth or validity of their speeches. That is a grave mistake, which does not take into account the unique characteristics of the average adult local voter.

In this regard, Kenneth will do well to speak for himself as an Independent, which will in all likelihood yield many intelligent, as well as less inteligent, 'buyers' by virtue of his credibility, genuineness and just moral convictions.

But in reality, it is hard, really hard, if not impossible, to convince an elephant to even think of pulling at the thin string after decades of systematic conditioned thinking. Because it has become 'second nature' to automatically reject the truth, no matter how true that truth is. For the animal, the status quo has become both comfortable and blissfully bearable.

i think it is more of a case like sit where the shade is coolest until even her principles are so compromised because she can't do without all the power and material benefits this obedience brings....
