SINGAPORE: Workers' Party MPs Pritam Singh and Png Eng Huat have been named the Vice-Chairmen of the Aljunied-Hougang Town Council.

This was announced in a Government Gazette notification published online on Monday.

Mr Pritam Singh takes over the Vice-Chairmanship of the town council from WP Secretary-General, Low Thia Khiang.

Party Chairman Sylvia Lim continues as the Chairman of the Town Council.

The remaining three MPs, Low Thia Khiang, Chen Show Mao and Muhammad Faishal Abdul Manap are elected members of the Town Council.

[h=2]1 Day Malaysia Durian Tour[/h]

The much anticipated durian trip finally took place on the morning of 29 July 2012. Residents of Hougang SMC, together with their Member of Parliament, Mr Png Eng Huat embarked on an enjoyable 1 day durian tour to Malaysia. Throughout this beautiful Sunday, visits to a chinese temple, a brown rice factory, a local product store and of course a durian plantation were scheduled. The trip ended with a sumptuous 8-course dinner at Restaurant 88. Dinner was accompanied by a singing session by the residents. And much to the delights of the residents, MP Mr Png went on stage to sing a song for them! It was a fruitful trip, evident from the many bags of goodies residents brought back with them to Singapore. Tired but all smiles, residents are already looking forward to future such trips.
