Last Saturday on the 31 August, Member of Parliament for Aljunied GRC, Mr Pritam Singh kicked off his inaugural session of “Good Neighbours: Tea with Pritam”. Residents from surrounding blocks came down early in the morning to join Pritam for breakfast, while mingling with other residents as well. This informal bloc party session was also an opportunity for Mr Singh to get to know his residents better, listening to their concerns and attempting to address their needs and queries. The event also doubled as an educational platform about neighbourhood matters supported by members of the Singapore Police Force (SPF). The policemen took the opportunity to inform the public of initiatives such as the Community Policing System (COPS) targeting crimes such as loan sharking in the area. Many residents joined in to sign up for the COPS SMS Alert initiative too! The Singapore Cat Welfare Society also graced the event with an educational booth, which provided useful information to the residents about the care of cats. It was thus a satisfying way to spend a Saturday morning, where residents got the opportunity to know their neighbours, their MP and the issues in their neighbourhood a little bit better.

Dance to Bond at Kaki Bukit division turns 1. In September 2012, a group of line dancing enthusiasts came together and with the assistance of the Aljunied-Hougang-Punggol East Town Council, a weekly line dancing program at Block 508, Bedok North Avenue 3 was set up. This weekly program is run and administered by the residents themselves. Tonight, they came together to celebrate Teachers' Day and the friendship they shared as a local community with some homemade delights! MP Faisal was also invited to share in this heart warming and meaningful occasion.
