[h=1]13.07.21 Kaki Bukit division Porridge & Dates Distribution[/h]Taken at Block 550, Bedok North Avenue 1
On the afternoon of 21 July 2013, at the void deck where MP Faisal conducts his weekly Meet-the-People session, a porridge and dates distribution was organised for residents of Kaki Bukit. Banners were put out a week before the actual distribution and residents, Muslim and non-Muslims alike responded warmly to the invitation of MP Faisal.
Muslim stallholders from the market at Block 538, Bedok North Street 3, sponsored the porridge and MP Faisal himself purchased the dates for distribution as a small gesture of giving and sharing with his residents. MP Faisal was there early with the volunteers to pack the porridge into the plastic bowls and placed them in a plastic carrier for easy handling and consumption. Children who came by were also given packets of cookies to brighten up their day!
The event started at 4.45pm and by 6pm in the evening, all of the 450 packs of porridge and dates prepared were distributed.
A picture speaks a thousand words. The photos in this album form the tapestry of this meaningful annual event and best communicates the gratitude and joy of the residents who came by to pick up the porridge and dates from MP Faisal. The glint in their eyes and the smile on their faces makes the preparation all the more worthwhile.
MP Faisal would like to register his thanks to the sponsor(s) for their generosity, the grassroots volunteers for their hard work and the residents for their continuous support and understanding.
