Just curious - would a 16yr old be arrested, handcuffed and charged for a similar incident in a first world country?
they already handcuffed a 14 year old for running away from mata. 16 is nothing.

AGC TO "STAND DOWN" AMOS YEE'S CHARGE RELATED TO LEE KUAN YEW[/h]
Post date:
1 May 2015 - 12:24am
The AGC has expressed that they will not be proceeding with the charges against Amos Yee in relation to Lee Kuan Yew and will, for the moment, only be proceeding with the charges related to his attack on Christians and Christianity and distributing obscene material for his cartoon of Lee Kuan Yew butt-f***ing Margaret Thatcher.
There was drama at the courthouse today as Amos Yee was assaulted by an unidentified man while he was walking into the courts. (Amos Yee Slapped in the Face Outside the Courthouse)
He had earlier breached his bail conditions by posting numerous updates on his facebook and blog this morning as well as unprivatizing his original posts. His bailor, Mr Vincent Law, a youth counsellor has discharged himself as bailor and Amos is back in remand.
A new bail amount of $30,000 was set and a hearing will be held shortly to see if his previous bailor, Mr Law, will get his $20,000 back.
Now that Amos is in remand, the court has also agreed to bring forward his next pre-trial conference and set a trial date in the near future.
His lawyer, Mr Dodwell, explained to the media that Amos felt strongly about his right to post online and he acknowledged that Singapore's constitution grants that right to free speech and expression.
"We always advise our clients to comply with all conditions, until otherwise revoked," he said. "But if a client chooses not to comply, we don't father the client, we just tell the client what to do, and if the client refuses to do so, we do ask why but we don't probe further than that. They face the consequences of that action."
The next pre-trial conference is set for May 4 and it is believed that a trial date will be set soon after that.
In the meantime, the AGC has said that it will be "standing down" the charges related to Mr Lee Kuan Yew and will only be proceeding with the other 2 for now. The charge relating to Mr Lee Kuan Yew is not dropped so they can still decide later to proceed with it if they wish. For the upcoming trial, they will proceed with the other 2 charges.
Not suka suka. The AGC was obviously instructed to charge Amos Yee.
That looks like it. Now AGC is regretting it. First charge stood down. Second charge of offending Christianity also will probably follow same pattern. Christians were NOT offended. How to charge?
Fuck off you athetist.
Just give him 24 strokes of rottan. ,
They will proceed with the other charges and spin it as Amos is a criminal rather than a political activist.
The truth is Amos is a political activist as his video was to lambast Lee CONs U. Amos didn't seek to criticise Christianity. So, if the first charge is dropped, the second charge should be dropped. But AG is not dropping the other charges because he wants to play this attack on Amos strictly as criminality rather than an attack on critics of the PAP.
AMos is not a political activist. Anyone can say bad about the govt individually, but one is not a activist unless he gets up and does something to change things. Join an opposition party. Start a community action party. Promote a social cause. Put his hands into the plough. Work with the people.
His facebook's tirade against LKY and the LHL is a show of defiance to his "horrible" parents who he thinks have deprived him of his freedom.
It's like the PM suing Roy Ngerng for defamation. They are trying to portray Amos as a criminal rather than a political activist. Amos brought up the Christian thing only in the context of comparing Jesus with the CONman. If you don't proceed with the first charge, then they shouldn't do it for the second either.
OK for Amos to criticise Christianity?
Next he try whacking Islam?
