AS SINGAPORE gears up for the 'silver tsunami', it needs to use its 'soul' to reach out to the the elderly, Dr Fatimah Lateef said in Parliament on Tuesday.
'We need to bring back the heartware in our society,' said Dr Fatimah, MP for Marine Parade GRC. 'It has been said that how a nation takes care of its elderly is a reflection of its soul. The time for reflection is now.'
In the new world order, she said, Singapore would need to ask how to balance the needs of the elderly against the aspirations of the young.
Perhaps the MPs and Civil Servants under the superscale should lead by example and adopt an "elderly" or two maybe in their term as MP.
It is definitely better than the S$330 paid out under the PA scheme
This is known as walking the talk......
