If one is craving for Chinese cuisine in Thailand as in the real stuff like Cantonese and Teochew like East Ocean and Paradise in Singapore I will highly recommend Hong Bao. There are 5 branches all located at high end malls serving mainly Thailand's upper-class Chinese.

Just finished lunch at Hong Bao's branch in Crystal Park Mall with a 2 customers

I simply love the restaurant's crunch preserved radish, ask for more

Then its dimsum. Thais love dimsum. Just go to any 7Eleven you can find a cabinet full of different types of bao, siew-mai, har-gao etc etc but then these 7Eleven dimsum I am sure Singaporeans will not like. Then there are those specialise dimsum kiosk or stall they're better than 7Eleven but still not like ours. Hong Bao restaurant however serves dimsum very similar in taste and quality to Hong Kong dimsum that is why I always enjoy my dimsum here

Why do Thais love Dim Sum? Small portions of different dish? Or ?

Why do Thais love Dim Sum? Small portions of different dish? Or ?

As I mentioned there are probably 3 levels, 7Eleven level, specialised but local level, and there's the high SES level so the Thais at different levels like it for different reason. On the lower rung its hot food on the go and is inexpensive for example they can buy siew mai at 20 baht a stick for 4 pieces but its small. In the middle rung I guess its also easy food on the go but people may like it for the variety. On the higher rung I think non-Chinese Thais as in Thai Thais may not go I mean you look around its all Chinese faces speaking Thai, this is high SES and I guess these people like it cos they probably been to Hong Kong or Singapore and tasted the real stuff. I'm there simply because my boss paid for it if not you will be seeing me having dimsum in 7Eleven.

Provincial airports plan service charge hike
  • Bangkok Post Published: 1/09/2018 at 06:13 PM
The Department of Airports plans to raise the passenger service charge (PSC) on departing travellers on international flights at its 22 airports by 50% to 600 baht.

The rate for domestic flights, now at 50 baht, remains the same, he said.
The airports currently charge 400 baht per passenger for international flights and 50 baht for domestic flights, much lower than other airports, director-general Darun Saengchai said on Saturday.
“The rate is very low and has not be revised for a long time. We believe the hike won’t affect tourists and airlines as it is still lower than the average of those charged by other international airports,” he said.

The department will seek approval for the hike from the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand, of which board will meet this month.
By comparison, Suvarnabhumi, operated by Airports of Thailand Plc, charges 700 baht for international trips and 100 baht for domestic flights.
The department operates 28 provincial airports: Mae Hong Son, Pai, Mae Sariang, Lampang, Phrae, Nan, Mae Sot, Tak, Phitsanulok, Phetchabun, Loei, Udon Thani, Sakon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom, Roi Et, Ubon Ratchathani, Buri Ram, Khon Kaen, Nakhon Ratchasima, Hua Hin, Chumphon, Ranong, Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Krabi, Trang, Pattani and Narathiwat.
Four of them -- those in Udon Thani, Tak, Sakon Nakhon and Chumphon -- will be transferred to Airports of Thailand Plc after the cabinet approved the plan last month.

Thai food is well known to be delicious and loved by everyone, one of the reasons is the Thai had perhaps perfected the balance between spiciness, sour, sweet and saltiness which made the food easy to eat and easy to go with other food and drinks.

Nice spread, the moment you see it you wanna eat it

More heavy rain expected in North, Northeast and East until Sept 9
Breaking News September 04, 2018 18:10
By Thai Visa

Residents in the northern, northeastern and eastern regions are advised to beware of heavy rain and flash flooding, while the rise of the Mekong River continues to cause problems for people living in several provinces.

The Temporary Crisis Centre has warned of heavy rain in the provinces of Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Phayao, Phrae, Nan, Lamphun, Lampang, Uttaradit, Nong Khai, Bueng Kan, Nakhon Phanom, Sakon Nakhon, Mukdahan, Amnat Charoen, Rayong, Chanthaburi and Trat.
More rainfall is expected from September 7-9.

The Mekong has overflowed its embankments in Nong Khai, Nakhon Phanom and Mukdahan, while Bueng Kan and Khong Chiam district in Ubon Ratchathani are also at risk.

Nam Oon Dam in Sakon Nakhon currently holds 558 million cubic metres of water, down 2 million cubic metres from the day before.
Downstream areas where the river has overflowed its banks include Ban Pok Yai in Phanna Nikhom district in Sakon Nakhon, and Ban Na Wa in Na Wa district of Nakhon Phanom.

Kaeng Krachan Dam in Phetchaburi province now holds 753 million cubic metres of water, down 2 million cubic metres from the day before.
The dam’s spillways are currently 96 centimetres under water, but downstream areas are no longer flooded.
Water in Vajiralongkorn Dam in Kanchanaburi province has stabilised at 8.37 billion cubic metres, and downstream areas are reportedly safe.
The dam has enacted its outflow regime of 58 million cubic metres per day, resulting in the Khwae Noi River rising by around 40cm.
Srinakarin Dam in the same province currently holds over 16.17 billion cubic metres, up 28 million cubic metres from the day before.
The current outflow has resulted in the Khwae Yai River rising by around 35cm.
Officials plan to adjust the dam’s outflow rate to 28 million cubic metres per day from September 7-13.
Khun Dan Prakan Chon Dam in Nakhon Nayok province currently holds 197 million cubic metres of water, an increase of 3 million from the previous day, and is now at 88 per cent of its capacity.

Thailand is also well known for its salads and the most famous of all is the somtam (papaya salad) the other will be YAM.

Yam is a style of salad which has some basic ingredient and then a main ingredient. So the basic ingredients are sliced shallots, lemon grass, fresh chili red and green, celery, coriander leaves, spearmint, spring onion, lime jiuce, fish sauce. The main ingredient could be anything.

If its prawn its known as yam krung , if its pork we call it yam moo etc etc. Basically it could be anything. One of the most popular yam is yam hoon sen krung or yam with glass noodle and prawn which look like this and I believe many of you had probably seen it before

Yesterday had a simple lunch that consists of yam sardines and stir fry kale and pork $5.50 for this lunch
