CRC Thai Watsadu Co, Thailand’s leading retail operator for home improvement products under three different brands Thai Watsadu, homeWork, and baan & BEYOND, has just opened a new baan & BEYOND store in Pattaya.
It is the first baan & BEYOND outlet in the city and follows on the heels of stores in Chiang Mai and Khon Kaen. The store brings together all home decor and improvement products under one roof and target residents of Pattaya, Bang Lamung, Bang Saray, and Sattahip.
The launch of new store in Pattaya is part of the economic growth in eastern provinces, comprising Chon Buri, Rayong, and Trat, driven by the development of Eastern Economic Corridor initiated by the public and private sector.
“baan & BEYOND is located in a prime industrial location surrounded by growing businesses, residential and other real estate projects, shopping malls and retail shops, hotels and tourism destinations. With these favourable factors, we believe that the retail business for home products in Pattaya has major growth potential in the future,” said CEO Suthisarn Chirathivat
“We have improved our choice of merchandise and developed our product display methods, offerings customers easier decision making and a chance to mix and match home decor products.”

Infants' tax credit aims to reverse ageing tide
Bangkok Post Published: 6/12/2017 at 04:00 AM
The Revenue Department is set to allow individual taxpayers to double the child allowance claimed for the second child onward to 60,000 baht each as part of fresh efforts to reverse the demographic shift towards an ageing society.
The amendment to the Revenue Code is under the Fiscal Policy Office's consideration and, if approved, the higher child allowance will come into force next tax year, said Prasong Poontaneat, director-general of the Revenue Department.
Starting from this tax year, the previous 15,000-baht cap on the child allowance -- limited to three children, whether biological or adopted -- was abolished.
Taxpayers can now claim deductions of 30,000 baht each for an unlimited number of biological children or up to three foster children.
The move is intended to encourage families to have more kids.
In a related development, the Revenue Department plans to let taxpayers claim tax deductions worth 60,000 baht for prenatal care, Mr Prasong said, though he did not specify when that measure would go into effect.
Tax perks are only one measure needed to encourage people to give birth to more children and increase the number of working-age people, he said. The government will also need other measures to signal to society that it is serious about the country's low birth rate.
The Revenue Department has yet to calculate how much revenue the government will forgo if the measures are enacted.
According to government estimates, people aged 60 and over will account for 20% of the total population by 2021, up from 16% now.
Thailand is already an ageing society as defined by the UN and will become an aged society by 2025.
A society is considered to be ageing when one-tenth of its population is over the age of 60 and aged when one-fifth is over 60.
Thailand was earlier recognised by the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund for its achievements regarding birth control, but now the country is facing labour shortages, with local operators needing to hire migrant workers from neighbouring countries.
Southeast Asia's second-largest economy experienced a baby boom during 1963-83, when more than 1 million children were born each year. But the birth rate has now dropped below 800,000 a year, with the fertility rate down to 1.6 children per woman from five children in 1974.
The government is giving a 600-baht monthly welfare benefit for newborn babies until the age of three, up from 50 baht in the past.

Deputy PM Prawit feels the heat after wearing high-end wristwatch
December 06, 2017 01:00. By The Nation
Leading junta figure General Prawit Wongsuwan has landed himself in hot water again after his flashy timepiece reportedly costing millions of baht got the attention it deserved.
A photograph of Prawit shading his eyes from the sun went viral on Monday after the new Cabinet had its first meeting and a group photo of the ministerial team was taken.
Of all the Cabinet members, Prawit – a deputy PM and defence minister – attracted the greatest attention in the picture, which showed his hand and wrist accessorised with a big diamond ring and the fancy watch.
The expensive-looking timepiece was later found to be a Richard Mille that would have cost between Bt4 million and Bt10 million.
Photos have been posted online showing Prawit’s wristwatch is the same brand as worn by elite tennis player Rafael Nadal, whose annual income is reported by international business magazines as being between US$35 million and $42.5 million (Bt1.14 billion-Bt1.38 billion).
Richard Mille watches are also popular among other high-profile celebrities such as singers Ed Sheeran, Jay Z and Kanye West, actor Joe Manganiello and footballer Neymar da Silva.
Netizens questioned how a military officer could have afforded such a luxurious item and wondered whether he had reported his ownership of it to the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC).
Although Prawit did not declare his Richard Mille or the diamond ring in the assets and liability list submitted to the NACC when he became deputy prime minister in 2014, some critics said that to be fair, it was possible he had only acquired them since the declaration.
However, Ruangkrai Leekijwattana, a member of the Pheu Thai Party legal team, on Tuesday urged the NACC to investigate whether Prawit was concealing his assets.
Having observed the general since he served as Army chief under Abhisit Vejjajiva’s administration until his role as a key figure in the junta government, Ruangkrai said that Prawit could have a number of assets, including Buddha amulets, jewellery and watches valued at more than Bt200,000, which he had been concealing from the NACC.

Yup. Agricultural industry very obvious especially North East region. Family have many fit and abled bodies adults to do farming work but instead "outsource" the work to Burmese and Cambodian and also Laos. The old farmers are dying. No new gen. young farmers except fm Myanmar n Cambo.
This is the big future problem.
Harsh reality is that Thailand has since developed over the years. So it's now grappling with migrant labour. Add to your list the fishing industry, never so apparent with Myanmar crew on boats/trawlers at Samut Songkram's bay (not far from Ampawa)....Agricultural industry very obvious especially North East region. Family have many fit abled adults to do farming work but instead "outsource" the work to Burmese and Cambodian and also Laos.
....more obvious industry is Construction Industry. ...ther jobs are kitchen helpers, cooks, room keepers, maids, waiter/waitress, street food seller and jobs that need to work under hot sun or no aircon. Many are Cambodians who can speak very fluent Thai. To a foreigner, they look the same as locals.
And since when you last saw a Thai construction worker in Sg (well, perhaps in Golden Mile from other trades?)
