Todays brunch. (actually bought last night). Baa Mee Moo Nam (Pork Noodle Soup)

Most stalls will seperate the soup and noodle if you order take away. Some favorite food is not available in the day so I like to order take away and keep it in the fridge.

CRC Thai Watsadu Co, Thailand’s leading retail operator for home improvement products under three different brands Thai Watsadu, homeWork, and baan & BEYOND, has just opened a new baan & BEYOND store in Pattaya.

It is the first baan & BEYOND outlet in the city and follows on the heels of stores in Chiang Mai and Khon Kaen. The store brings together all home decor and improvement products under one roof and target residents of Pattaya, Bang Lamung, Bang Saray, and Sattahip.

With these favourable factors, we believe that the retail business for home products in Pattaya has major growth potential in the future,” said CEO Suthisarn Chirathivat

“We have improved our choice of merchandise and developed our product display methods, offerings customers easier decision making and a chance to mix and match home decor products.”

Latest: Toon upped +500mil baht yesterday, to rest +1 day in krungthep.

Toon meets Prayut, to rest one more day
  • Bangkok Post Published: 4/12/2017 at 02:24 PM
Charity runner Artiwara “Toon” Kongmalai on Monday met Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha, who worried about Toon’s health and hoped he could complete his 2,191-kilometre hospital fund-raiser.

The Bodyslam band frontman spent the morning of his rest day at Government House, where lines of supporters waited to greet him and give donations to his charity fund, which topped 513 million baht around 2pm Monday.

He had planned to continue his marathon on Tuesday, but the team doctors instructed him to rest for one more day.

Toon is now due to resume his run at 3am on Wednesday, starting from the King Power head office on Rangnam Road in Ratchathewi district in Bangkok, heading to Siriraj Hospital and Suphan Buri.

Toon has already completed 1,300.50km, 59.3% of the total distance planned through 20 provinces from Betong district in Yala to Mae Sai district in Chiang Rai. The plan is to reach the finish line on Dec 25.

After meeting the premier, Toon told reports that Gen Prayut asked about this health and wished him success in his bid to raise money for needed equipment at 11 state-run regional hospitals. The prime minister also donated an undisclosed sum to the fund.

Gen Prayut said he had followed Toon’s charity run from the beginning, and his previous charity run. The rocker raised 85 million baht for Bang Saphan Hospital in December 2016 by running 400km from Bangkok to the hospital.

The prime minister thanked Toon and his team for coordinating with the Public Health Ministry and the 11 hospitals. He praised Toon as a determined new-generation citizen who is doing good deeds for the country, Thai people and public health.

Gen Prayut admitted the country still has problems with the universal health insurance scheme. However, the government budget needed to be allocated properly, or it could adversely impact the country’s development.

Toon's charity run would help reduce problems at the 11 hospitals. The government had approved funding for provincial hospitals but a large portion of the money had been spent on infrastructure development. Therefore, hospitals still lack the money to buy needed, expensive medical equipment.

Toon said he had not expected such a large number of people to step up and support his run, which was aimed at helping doctors and nurses. He is now two days behind schedule, but must take another day of rest on doctors' instructions.

“I am glad that this run started from Betong as I see only smiles and the happiness of Thai people. Children have donated savings from their piggy banks, it is beautiful and great.

“Thank you for seeing me as an inspiration. What I get from this project is much more than just the assistance to the hospitals when I see Thai people pool their hearts in giving,” the rocker said after meeting the prime minister.

The team has a target of 700 million baht in donations. It is already has about 73% of the target.

“I want small donations from a large number of people, instead of large amounts from a handful of donors,” Toon said.

With an extra rest day on Tuesday, Toon will be three days behind the original plan to arrive in Mae Sai on Christmas Day. But on Sunday night he expressed his determination to catch up on the lost time.

"Those worried about me have suggested I should delay the plan to reach Mae Sai for weeks, or even months," he said when asked about his schedule. "I don't want to be frivolous. I still stay focused on the plan and hope to make up the lost time."

Yup. Place used to be Home Works til September. One of my favorite place to jalan jalan and blow free aircon. Office Depot, Jim Thompson and Big C Pattaya South just around the same area. Good place to shop with lots of parking space.

Toon or more widely known as P' Toon is the lead singer of popular rock band Bodyslam. Other similar genre rock bands are Potato, Big Ass, Clash, Paradox and Sillyfools etc.

One of the most successful songs by Bodyslam is Kid Hort คิดฮอด which means Kid Teung in North East Issan language. Hort ฮอด in Issan means Teung ถึง can be directly translate as 到 or arrive.
The song Kid Hort features Siriporn Ampaiporn who is the god mother of Issan Morlam. Nobody dont know who is Siriporn Ampaipor. Her most famous song is "Bo Rak See Dam".

Here is the song Kid Hort. Enjoy

Deputy PM Prawit feels the heat after wearing high-end wristwatch

December 06, 2017 01:00. By The Nation

Leading junta figure General Prawit Wongsuwan has landed himself in hot water again after his flashy timepiece reportedly costing millions of baht got the attention it deserved.

A photograph of Prawit shading his eyes from the sun went viral on Monday after the new Cabinet had its first meeting and a group photo of the ministerial team was taken.

Of all the Cabinet members, Prawit – a deputy PM and defence minister – attracted the greatest attention in the picture, which showed his hand and wrist accessorised with a big diamond ring and the fancy watch.

The expensive-looking timepiece was later found to be a Richard Mille that would have cost between Bt4 million and Bt10 million.

Photos have been posted online showing Prawit’s wristwatch is the same brand as worn by elite tennis player Rafael Nadal, whose annual income is reported by international business magazines as being between US$35 million and $42.5 million (Bt1.14 billion-Bt1.38 billion).

Richard Mille watches are also popular among other high-profile celebrities such as singers Ed Sheeran, Jay Z and Kanye West, actor Joe Manganiello and footballer Neymar da Silva.

Netizens questioned how a military officer could have afforded such a luxurious item and wondered whether he had reported his ownership of it to the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC).

Although Prawit did not declare his Richard Mille or the diamond ring in the assets and liability list submitted to the NACC when he became deputy prime minister in 2014, some critics said that to be fair, it was possible he had only acquired them since the declaration.

However, Ruangkrai Leekijwattana, a member of the Pheu Thai Party legal team, on Tuesday urged the NACC to investigate whether Prawit was concealing his assets.

Having observed the general since he served as Army chief under Abhisit Vejjajiva’s administration until his role as a key figure in the junta government, Ruangkrai said that Prawit could have a number of assets, including Buddha amulets, jewellery and watches valued at more than Bt200,000, which he had been concealing from the NACC.

Have a child, get a 30,000-baht deduction. But help the country fight the ageing crisis by having a second baby and get double the tax deduction

Infants' tax credit aims to reverse ageing tide
Bangkok Post Published:

The Revenue Department is set to allow individual taxpayers to double the child allowance claimed for the second child onward to 60,000 baht each as part of fresh efforts to reverse the demographic shift towards an ageing society.

The amendment to the Revenue Code is under the Fiscal Policy Office's consideration and, if approved, the higher child allowance will come into force next tax year, said Prasong Poontaneat, director-general of the Revenue Department.

Starting from this tax year, the previous 15,000-baht cap on the child allowance -- limited to three children, whether biological or adopted -- was abolished.

Taxpayers can now claim deductions of 30,000 baht each for an unlimited number of biological children or up to three foster children.

The move is intended to encourage families to have more kids.

In a related development, the Revenue Department plans to let taxpayers claim tax deductions worth 60,000 baht for prenatal care, Mr Prasong said, though he did not specify when that measure would go into effect.

Tax perks are only one measure needed to encourage people to give birth to more children and increase the number of working-age people, he said. The government will also need other measures to signal to society that it is serious about the country's low birth rate.

The Revenue Department has yet to calculate how much revenue the government will forgo if the measures are enacted.

2564915.jpg

According to government estimates, people aged 60 and over will account for 20% of the total population by 2021, up from 16% now.

Thailand is already an ageing society as defined by the UN and will become an aged society by 2025.

A society is considered to be ageing when one-tenth of its population is over the age of 60 and aged when one-fifth is over 60.

Thailand was earlier recognised by the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund for its achievements regarding birth control, but now the country is facing labour shortages, with local operators needing to hire migrant workers from neighbouring countries.

Southeast Asia's second-largest economy experienced a baby boom during 1963-83, when more than 1 million children were born each year. But the birth rate has now dropped below 800,000 a year, with the fertility rate down to 1.6 children per woman from five children in 1974.

The government is giving a 600-baht monthly welfare benefit for newborn babies until the age of three, up from 50 baht in the past.

Yup. Agricultural industry very obvious especially North East region. Family have many fit and abled bodies adults to do farming work but instead "outsource" the work to Burmese and Cambodian and also Laos.

The other even more obvious industry is Construction Industry. Despite having regulations of local to foreigners quota, not many or no locals want to work in construction. Where I residing now have many construction projects, other than a few locals, the majority are Cambodians. And surprisingly, the salary is not bad, to attract and retain these foreign workers. The main reason is the economies in Myanmar, Cambodia and Laos are getting better amd better and the income gap between these countries and Thailand is narrowing so it make more sense to work in their own countries.

The other jobs are kitchen helpers, cooks, room keepers, maids, waiter/waitress, street food seller and jobs that need to work under hot sun or no aircon. Many are Cambodians who can speak very fluent Thai. To a foreigner, they look the same as locals.

Harsh reality is that Thailand has since developed over the years. So it's now grappling with migrant labour. Add to your list the fishing industry, never so apparent with Myanmar crew on boats/trawlers at Samut Songkram's bay (not far from Ampawa).

And since when you last saw a Thai construction worker in Sg (well, perhaps in Golden Mile from other trades?) ;)

For some unknown reasons, the longer I stay here, the more the mosquitos here dislike me. So I dont have much mosquito problems. Even where I stay now which is next to a jungle also dont have mosquito problems. But when I first came here many moons ago, mosquito rak I mak mak.
Welcome to the jungle. View from my kitchen.

But some places, mosquito rak I mak mak. Thats why me always carry with me these 2. One is preventive and the other is corrective. The bottle in pink is spray type mosqito repellent (Soffell brand) is used before kenna bite. The other is Siang Pure oil is for after kenna bite.
