A Singaporean's guide to living in Thailand

I kanna food poisoning from some supermarket cooked beehoon. Experiencing mild diarrhea since yesterday. Now my limbs all 'boh lak' machiam kanna raped repeatedly by Paula Taylor and Pancake :o
Single living overseas, KNN, never get yourself sick when overseas. Later garner enough energy to walk will go out buy some food.
Charcoal pills will also do the trick. Replenish liquid loss. Your body will expel toxins in natural way. Just caught on your ailment. When you are alone and out in foreign land, no fun..

Now in CNX, went to this local Lanna garden style restaurant. Only locals, with northern folk acoustics (distinctly different from luk tung. Few pints thereafter. Must say Lanna style here is more laid back than urban krungthep. Freaking humid, and taxi is by either tuk2 or songtaews. Will post pics of boutiquish guest house Seven Senses (only 7 rooms), 10 mins walk from Kad Suan Kaew mall. Kns, the manager Khun Munee is a nice dish ..what nice painted nails too:p

If you like something similar, I recommend a Khantoke dinner which is a Lanna show + dinner. If you want something only local Thai tourists go to:
Hean Kha Jao
Soi 3/3 Keaw Nawarat Road
Tel: 053 262 905

It's across the river on the east side, close to the Nawarat bridge. Very nice old house - very atmospheric - you eat al fresco on low tables. Fairly cheap too - you order dishes off menu 100-300B/dish. Show is FOC. Call them to find out show times and directions. No farang there, no Asian tourists as well.

If you want to eat until die die, go to the Moo Ka Ta buffet behind the Hillside Furama hotel (it's at the top of Nimman) - something like 150B/pax. Like I said, eat until pengsan. Go early like 6pm and you will see Thai people attack food like Sinkies at a buffet :D. Again never seen anybody foreign there at all.

Sawasdee krup everybody. woke up since 5.30 don't know why cannot sleep more, sigh.

rotikosong I wish to thank you again for your lead to the UK website which I paid so little for the rental of the car in my last leg there. I actually booked a Mitsubishi SUV for 200 pounds for 8 days, its a steal cos SUV rentals in every rental company is like $100 per day before insurance. When I arrived at Hertz they told me no more only have large car but I must pay a little more for upgrade. They gave me the QX56 Infiniti (brand new only done 952 miles) with full option but I must pay $400 more. First I don't know and not seen this car, secondly its like I have no choice as she told me no choice, so I lan lan paid the extra. But then when I saw the car and started to drive it I began to tell myself its worth it. Later I checked and realized that this rental would have set me back $2,000 (w/o insurance). So finally its really worth it. Also the 1000 miles I clocked was a very comfortable one. Thanks to you again bro.

No problem - I'm glad I could help, especially you.
Next time, though, give me a call if this happens - in the US you never have to lan lan accept a car - they should've upgraded you for free to the next class above.
But you got a great deal and a fantastic luxury car - this car would've cost 9-10 million baht if they sold it in Thailand - all my life I've never driven such a car before.

Oh BTW, you can thank me by letting me buy dinner for you the next time :D.
I'm in BKK next weekend but I think you might not be there - if not then end June/early July next time.

May I correct you, QX56 being a 5.6L car would have cost easily >11 mil because a 4.6L Lexus LS is already 11mil.

I'm coming back on Thursday almost midnight. On Friday my partners and I and families will be leaving for Rayong till Monday. Nevertheless do give me a call when you're back to Bangkok.

Hehehe. Fish Maw soup to go with the whisky. Knn, forgot to bring my black vinegar when moving house. But your pepper is tok kong. Thank you!

This lovely boutiquish guesthouse I'm staying. 10 mths old labour of love by owner lady Khun Munee. Ex stewardess NW, Bkk Airways and now grounded. Only 7 rooms. Only 10mins walk from Kad Suan Kaew. Kns, AIS connectivity spotty here, so late posts. Had to replace darned sim card.

Hehehehe. Strange, after drinking, I prefer to eat Khao Tom (preferably Teochew porridge style), a habit I brought to LOS from SG. Luckily, there are quite a few Khao Tom joints for those who gets hungry after a night out. The other one I really like is Zhu Zha Tang (Luad Moo) but not available here after 10-11pm.

YY, Thanks for the pics. I really like Lanna style deco. If I ever buy landed property in LOS, it will be Lanna style deco. :)

Wah Piangz, you really Superman! At the rate you travel, both domestic and international, I confirm 'pong chek'.

Are you feeling better? Yeah, just drink more water and take this as a good rest. :)

Get well soon.

Thanks. Diarrhea stopped since this morning. But suffered headache for the whole day. Was groggy today and almost left for University thinking that it was Monday. Maybe watched too much of Champions League last night because of extra time and penalty kicks. Anyway, I always bring along made in Thailand SARA tablets wherever I go. It's better than Panadol. Another instant relief for running nose is "Nasalin". In fact, I have my personal medical kit since medicine in Thailand is very cheap. Believe it or not, I even have medicine for "urethra infection" inside my medical kit.

Regained about 80% of fitness already. Ready for battle tomorrow.

Thanks, CBFC :)

I actually quite like VAPEX. I still keep a few of those Ah Pek handkerchiefs and put a few drops of VAPEX on the handkerchief to sniff. It works.
