Doing my usual rounds paddling my screws. Was driving along the highway and stopped by a rustic shop by the highway for breakfast this morning. Parking area full of trucks big and small.

Pharmacist Sireethorn Leigharamwat wins Miss Thailand 2019 crown

Pharmacist Sireethorn Leigharamwat was crowned Miss Thailand 2019 at Aksra Theatre King Power on Thursday (September 26).

From 39 candidates participating in the pageant, judges chose 20 contestants after the catwalk and self-introduction rounds, and then reduced it to eight finalists to compete in the interview round.

The four runner-ups for Miss Thailand by region were: Supang “I-tim” Panthong as Miss Thailand of the North, Warisa “Fan” Phongphruekthon as Miss Thailand of the Central, Monchnit “Nammon” Chuayboon as Miss Thailand of the Northeast, and Pornnatcha “Namwah” Arayasatchaphong as Miss Thailand of the South.

But Sireethorn “Bint” Leigharamwat a Bangkok pharmacist earned the title of Miss Thailand 2019, along with Bt1 million in cash, the crown and the sash.

In the final interview round, Sireethorn was asked to name the root cause of drug problems worldwide. She answered that “teen curiosity” was behind the problem. “Schools should teach them the effects and consequences of using drugs. It’s vital to let them know how their future will be affected if they dare to try,” she said.

An unhealthy level of air pollution covered 14 areas of Greater Bangkok on Monday morning, according to the Pollution Control Department due to particulate matter smaller than 2.5 micrometres (PM2.5).

Bangkok residents woke up to see a cloud of small dust in the heart of the capital, including Pathum Wan, Din Daeng, and sections of Lat Phra road.

Levels of 42-66 micrograms per cubic metre (µg/m3) were found in 14 areas. Thailand’s official safety limit is 50µg/m3, double the World Health Organisation’s 25µg/m3.

Bangkok was also ranked the second highest after Hanoi on Monday for the pollution, according to the air quality and pollution city ranking as reported by airvisual.com.

The Pollution Control Department reported high air pollution counts in the following areas: Kanchanaphisek Rd Bang Khun Thian Bangkok, Rama IV Rd. Khet Pathum Wan Bangkok, Intarapitak Rd. Khet Thon Buri Bangkok, Lat Phrao Rd. Khet Wang Thonglang Bangkok, Din Daeng Rd. Khet Din Daeng Bangkok, Pubpla Khet Wang Thonglang Bangkok, Mueang Nakhon Pathom, Bang Krua Bang Kruai Nonthaburi, Bang Phut Pak Kret Nonthaburi, Khlong Nueng Khlong Luang Pathum Thani, Song Kanong Phra Pradaeng Samut Prakan, Pak Nam Meuang Samut Prakan, Om Noi Krathum Baen Samut Sakhon and Maha Chai Mueang Samut Sakhon.
