A person wearing a tie & Long-sLeeved shirt commands more respect..

Which means you never beLonged to the wear-tie group, bro...;)

Never had this privilege, bro. Only wear tie when need to go Sub Ct. When in service, I also siamed long sleeves. Me always in short sleeves shirt. My bosses all quite accommodating on this aspect.

Ok lah. As long as you deliver on your work and don't make life miserable for them, they are quite ok.

In fact, 2 of my direct bosses in my working career didn't even know what I did after work. I recall an incident earlier in my career when senior officers were needed to escort quite a number of visitors in town and they were planning a visit to a nightclub. When my name surfaced, my boss shot it down straightaway. He told the other chap I would be like a fish out of water in a nightclub.

I was pleased to be left out. Why? Let me explain to you the police mentality and culture. When you are very comfortable drinking in a nightclub, they will perceive you as an alcoholic, chiongster, womaniser etc etc. If pretend to act decent in a nightclub, they say you are like a piece of wood. Either way, you lose.

That same night when my colleagues entertained our foreign guests at Golden Million, I was enjoying myself at Carnival! Best to keep a low profile.

Does that notion stiLL hoLd any water today ?..or perhaps it was the way we were raised to give more attention & respect to peopLe who donned them in those days..;)
Hack, i have not been wearing one since my nephew's wedding, aLways being more comfortabLe with
my coLLared T's, bermuda's, jeans & pants..:)

Sounds like a full-fledged pawn and a total idiot to me.

Tie and long sleeved shirt are for salesman ;)

I prefer suit and shirt without the tie ;) anyway Singapore is too hot for suits .

People who wear 2 piece suits and no time command no respects, eg. our MP and Ministers. When u show up in Parliament and cannot even put a tie on, you are just a lazy asshole and disrespecting the solemn institution of the Parliament. People who wear 2 piece suits and no tie, are usually at the end of a long work day and relaxing for drinks in a restaurant or lounge. That's not how they show up for work. Being paid multimillion dollar salary, u would think it would kill them to put a tie on.

Also, people who wear pink dress shirts all the time with their business attire also command no respect. I am talking to u Gay Loong.

No wonder 40% do not respect PAP MIWs because despite all their million dollars salary, they can't even make themselves presentable by buying a budget brand tie like Van Garie!

I think most Sporeans look at the footwear of the PAP Just look at LKY's runners;)

Yes simple no respect bo chap because they treat as their own father's company........notice how LKY and his copycats like to wear that ugly jacket......but when he goes overseas or meet VIPs in instana then see him prim and proper in full suit.......it shows the respect these fucktards accord to our parliament.

Blokes having to wear a long sleeve shirt and a tie are mostly workers and employees. Even the so-called "bosses" (eg. managers, executives etc.) are all wage earners. Real bosses and business owners don't usually bother much about attire. For myself, I wear a polo t-shirt and chinos / jeans to work everyday. My staff are free to wear jeans and t-shirts to work. Just no shorts and bermudas.

hi there

1. when i am in the suzhou subsidiary.
2. yes, tie & long sleeve thing.
3. at times, must don a full suit.
4. chins/dogs always judge the book by its cover hoh!

not chinks only......you from HK you should know HK culture also......angmos practise it too......you cannot walk into a corporate meeting looking underdressed right? or go to a gala dinner wearing jeans. Its courtesy. only icons like Steve Jobs and Richard Branson can get away with their attire.
