A Lack Of Thought Process

No offence after reading this,

Actually you can say it in your perspective that this someone shows a lack of thought but if you are thoughtful enough to understand that he has this lack of thought, you might not blurt this to him.

Anyone would feel offended and angry if someone says that. However its a good lesson to learn that talking to people requires skills and tact. To talk to someone you know or don't know, its best to use the 1st 5 mins to see whether the person thinks deep enough like you.
No offence taken. Your posts are usually polite and useful / informative.
I agree with your views and comments. Will use them for future reference.

Thought process means 思維. A lack of thought process simply means 缺乏思維.

It simply means the person lacks the skills in building his own arguments, and such skills are founded on logic.

It does imply a lack of intelligence, but it doesn't mean stupid.

Whether the person is going to feel hurt depends on a few things:

(1) What is your status vis-a-vis that person ?
(2) The manner in which the comment was conveyed.

There are not many who 缺乏思維, more likely it's a case of 思維不夠清晰。
Thanks for your views and the description.
It's quite accurate actually.
And your last point is quite similar to silverfox. Should have said that the thought process is not clear on this particular matter, instead of saying that he lacked thought process, which is a sweeping gemeralization of him and not the specific subject.

Seems to be the person is just lazy and disinterested in the task.

I think to say someone is stupid and useless is much more hurting and unpleasant than to say someone lacks thought process.
The former is a blatant generalization, whereas the latter could mean only for the particular subject matter.

But I get your point that it is hurting and could be interpreted as saying the guy is stupid.

Good, next time I can tell the Ah Soh in front of me at the supermarket queue, you ah "lack of thought". At least I am not the only one fuming mad.

Many a times you see this type of Ah Soh lack of thought in progress. They will wait till the cashier tell them the cost of groceries and then slowly one at a time, search their hang bag for their purse. And then dig out note piece by piece. And then the coins...

There is a complete lack of thought of the people queuing behind them.
It's simply a case of plain inconsideration by the ah soh.
But it also reflects a lack of thought process in their everyday behaviour.
The ones who dig their purse only after the cashier tells them how much is not so bad.
The worst ones are those who after everything has been keyed in, they suddenly decide that they want 3 more things or don't want 2 items already keyed in.
This is classic bad upbringing, their parents obviously did that as well.

Oh don't get me wrong, I am a cocky bitch but have no hang ups about it- unlike you (seemingly).

I wouldn't be bothered about what other people feel about what I say or do.
That's settled then, sneering bitch, errr, I mean cocky tree. :)

Physical aging has it effects on the human brain which may explain the behaviour of the ah soh. This also shows you have a lack of thought process.......

Ah soh are not really old, they are middle aged aunties.
If they were really old, they would be called ah mahs.
Hmmm.

I neber say "old" hor, just 'physical aging'. Regression starts at various ages regardless of gender.

No offence, but twice I have pointed out the deficiencies in your thought process also.

Everyone is not infallible all the time. Just need to be mindful all the time.

Therefore, I agree with some forummer; dont hurt peoples feelings with our comments.

Thanks for the advice. :)

Can I ask the following:

1. Do you understand what I meant by "a lack of thought process"? Can you explain it?

2. Does it imply a lack of intelligence? If not, what does it imply?

I'll explain my views when I receive some answers/comments. Thanks for replying.

Lack of thought process = didn't think through a problem, didn't consider all the ramifications or they never occur to you.

What you and the other guy say is true. jw5 is not a bad person, but I think, from the way he writes, that he is a bland and blunt person who may sometimes even feel lonely and he also wonders why when people including his friends have quietly deserted and ignored him.

What is he? In his 30s? 40s? I thought a matured oldling like him can do better than that.

Wah you seem to know him very well.

Thought process means 思維. A lack of thought process simply means 缺乏思維.

Absolutely right!

Everyone says things or do things in a spur of the moment, especially when emotions run high. So sometimes what we say and what we think are different. There are people who think of something but could not express it in words, there are others who express it in words first before thinking.
It doesn't matter whether you are 20, 30, 40, 50, or over that. But the older that person comes with more experiences in life.

Ever heard of people saying "Talking to People is an Art."
People who need to broker deals or contracts often have to think a few steps ahead of what their clients are thinking. There are people who hold conversations with others not to really talk to them, but to know what they are thinking within.

To summarise, I don't think people with lack of thought will take offense after they cooled down. But those who take offense and have a grudge with what jw5 said, then it shows that person is quite deep in his thinking.

What you said is very cool. But I don't understand one thing, why would the deep thinker bear a grudge? I think bearing a grudge is a personality trait and has little to do with whether or not the person thinks deeply. Of course a deep thinker is more likely to bear a grudge, but many petty people don't think. They feel the grudge.

I think to say someone is stupid and useless is much more hurting and unpleasant than to say someone lacks thought process.

I don't agree with the "more or less hurting" part. It really depends on the individual. Judging a person to be stupid or smart is merely an opinion. Although the lack of thought process may really insult a person who considers himself very smart and "have a thought process".

Lack of thought process = didn't think through a problem, didn't consider all the ramifications or they never occur to you.

In a nutshell, yeah.

Bro, you really need to speak to someone. As you grow older, it will be turn to a full blown obsession. The constant need to analyse every action and validate everything you do by seeking assurance does little to improve your outlook.

By now you must realise there will always be someone in this forum that will agree to something that is bizarre, ridiculous and outright silly.

I am not talking about your comment about calling someone's thought process into question. The constant need to ask people to validate your actions in a roundabout manner.

These kind of questions are called "Dear Abby" questions that addresses the concerns of bored housewives, insecure partners, incompatible lovers and tend to be skewed to the female gender. In contemporary society, women are equal and such columns and questions seldom appear in broadsheets. The concerns are now sexual experiments, tactical approach to divorces and suing the plastic surgeon.

Only you keep asking these questions? You should also not associate with people that don't even understand and can't articulate why he was hurt by your insult. Much a worse than a moron when he does know why he was hurt. I hope you did not think that your comment was sly, sophisticated or wily in anyway.

I had an argument with someone and claimed that he showed a lack of thought process.
He was very upset by this, but he could not articulate clearly why he was upset.
Of course, I knew what I mean by that statement, but I wasn't going to explain to him, so we left the situation at that unresolved and angry state.

Can I ask the following:

1. Do you understand what I meant by "a lack of thought process"? Can you explain it?

2. Does it imply a lack of intelligence? If not, what does it imply?

I'll explain my views when I receive some answers/comments. Thanks for replying.

Hahaha, well said.
You are of course entitled to your own analysis and comments, as we both know being "veterans" of forums, in particular this one.

And welcome back by the way.
You were noticeably absent on the day Sumiko got married, until today. :)

It was pretty obvious that he had been crying buckets till today. Why you so insensitive to point it out? :D:D:D

Thought process? Sinkie got no brain, no heart and no balls

Some of the prc nationals have some of the most absurd and ridiculous thought process on earth.
And they will not hesitate to spend hours using that absurd logic to debate a point, just to get what they want.
You obviously have not spent enough time with them.
