6th military colleague (BG ranked) joins Des Kuek at SMRT

Give Desmond Kuek some space. Although rumours have been flying around that his attitude in the SAF is shit and how much his wife loves to boast about her husband's ex-position, we should give him some grace period. Remember that he had inherited an administration that is in shambles and a management so bad that it makes the SMEs shine. That bitch spent so much on retail, which should have been a side income rather than main revenue, instead of spending on the engineering sector which required attention the most. Remember those technicians who appeared for the inquiry? They are simply pure amateurs who only know the bits and pieces of technical stuff. This pretty much shows how much damage that the Bitch Saw's administration had did to SMRT. At least, he is clearing the old and bringing in new people (though they are his ka kias) but there might be a chance that his new team might have better standard than previous.

Why pay millions for someone who hires more of his buddies that will earn even more millions when you just need to spend millions to get the right expertise to get the job done?
In math, CEO make $3 million ...hires 6 buddies each getting $1 million ...total compensation is $9 million. Then they will hire foreign expertise at a cost of $30 million to fix the problems. Total cost = $39 million.
Get an experienced transit CEO, pay him $3 million ...he gets the job done. With his connections in the industry, he could get the problems fixed at lower cost than the neophyte CEO.

ME8 Lee Ling Wee

Less than a month after ex-air force man ME8 Lee Ling Wee, 47, was appointed
Senior Vice President of SMRT’s new division for maintenance and engineering in
May, he has been tasked to take over the position of Executive Vice President of
Trains, effective Monday (24 Jun).

The post was vacated by Mr Khoo Hean Siang, 65, last Sunday when his
employment contract with SMRT expired.

Prior to joining SMRT, Mr Lee headed the RSAF’s air-engineering and logistics
department, and has more than 25 years of experience in engineering and
maintenance in the air force.

He is the sixth person with military background whom SMRT chief executive
Desmond Kuek has brought into SMRT.

Mr Lee will take charge of all train operations, engineering and maintenance
for the North-South, East-West and Circle Lines and for Bukit Panjang LRT.

With Mr Lee’s appointment, the bulk of senior management under former chief
executive Saw Phaik Hwa has been replaced.

While in RSAF, Mr Lee held the rank of Military Expert 8 – equivalent to a
Brigadier-General.

Here we are, on the other hand we talked about importing FTS (true talents from overseas as you said?) & yet we are not giving these local blokes the opportunity. After all we have spent so much money on them (again as you said) but we are yet to ascertain if we have wasted what we spent on them. Fcuk, if within a given time frame, and they are still unable to do the job, then you & I and the rest of the Sinkies would know how the system work...

As an extension to my earlier post, I don't know these paper general buggers nor am interested in knowing them. But we need to look at things on a clear perspective. Queen Saw came in with no fcuking knowledge as to how to run MRT. Sure, she did impress the shareholders that she had made yearly profits (vis-a-vis retail outlets) but at the expense of neglecting train maintenance.

They are making the same mistake by bringing in PAPer generals with NO experience in running mass transit system. One inexperienced lady and now an inexperienced PAPer general ...another disaster in the making.
Save us previous dollars, hire experienced competent people instead of neophytes who will then spend big bucks to hire experienced foreigners to assist.

Who is Singapore wants to take up this unglorified position in SMRT? No choice but to give it to MEs or BGs

If you want to solve the problems, you hire angmos who have managed mass transits successfully. $3 million, can definitely find one.

When we really need qualified and experienced FTs, we bring in our buddies and those who we know. Haven't we learnt anything from the Saw's reign where she did the exact same thing - her cronies.

Why did we bring this chap to Harvard for ? I am sure Harvard does not teach this kind of nonsense. You hire the best, not who you know or rely. I am sure loyalty is an asset but is he that insecure.

People are already disturbed that the fact that this chap took a long holiday shortly after coming on board contrary to what most people do when they take on a new role. Then when faced with the first major strike in decades, he decides remain holidaying and thinking that his subordinates can handle it. When thoroughly embarrassed, he returns for an opportunistic photo shoot.

Then he buys himself 5 years of security by claiming that it needs that long to fix the damage done by Saw and gang. If that is indeed the case, should not a an inquiry be held and sue Saw for mismanagement.

Successful?

My foot

Just like hiring Shane Todd

You really 'see not high' angmos? There are good ang mos, there are bad ang mos.

Aside, why bring Shane Todd up again? His hantu may come back to haunt you. How do you know he is incapable? You believe everything the IME folks say ...there were lots of inconsistencies in those testimonies, by the way.

When New South Wales wanted to fix their system, they did a global search ...http://www.transport.nsw.gov.au/media-releases/global-search-ceos-fix-trains

Sinkapore ...just pick some neophytes from MINDEF to do it. How many more millions are to be wasted?

New York subway, French Metro--you call that success stories?

SMRT is a subsidiary of MINDEF ?
May be a better deal since mindef has no profit focus. About time that essential services are managed to maximize service level, instead of profit margin. Make sure all the trains standby to wait for passengers.

Seems like SMRT is a place where flies are attracted to the rubbish there.

It happened with Saw Phaik Hwa and her DFS cronies, now it's Desmond and his band of military kakis.

I don't think anyone with an ounce of self-respect should work in SMRT.
