Gareth Southgate’s attention to detail is second to none.
He went over to the MLS, looked at their media relations, he also studied the talks Chris Coleman gave to Wales during Euro 2016.
The one thing he took from Chris Coleman was “look, just go out there, whatever’s going to happen, just seize the moment” and it definitely seems to be working.
That’s why England will very much start on the front foot tonight. There won’t be any of this passing, passing, passing like the Spanish. They’ll absolutely go for Colombia tonight.

How do you like them apples? Great news for England on ITV’s flagship investigative current affairs show This Morning, as Mystic Marcus the Defecating Psychic Pig plumped for some tasty treats with England flags in them. That means ... well, you know how this nonsense works by now. Marcus tucked into his tasty treat after delivering his critical verdict on England’s performance against Belgium in smouldering pellet form. Lulu the elephant would have been so proud.

To be fair, Marcus is three from three in England predictions to date, so let’s not knock it. Photograph: Ken McKay/ITV/REX/Shutterstock

Couple of points about ex England captain Terry Butcher:

1. He was recently appointed the head coach of the Philippines.

2. He was born in Singapore.

This team has played together before so I'm happy with that. There's enough attacking power there.
We're better in every department than the Colombians and I think if we approach the game in the right way and be positive - which I think the players have been - then we should be fine.
