One was already dead and the other lost consciousness on route to the hospital.
The dead man was identified as Mr Francis Wee Chin Wah, 44, the owner of FourOneFour Home Gallery, the shophouse the men were found in. He was found lying face up on the bed in a bedroom, with no visible injuries, and slight foaming around his mouth.
The other man is believed to be a 35-year-old shareholder in Mr Wee's business, known as Eric. He was found lying face down on the floor, and appeared to have bruises on his face and chest, in addition to scratches. He is in the Intensive Care Unit of Singapore General Hospital undergoing blood tests. He has not regained consciousness.
The main door to the ground-floor unit was locked on Wednesday, but the door to Mr Wee's bedroom was found open.
Police said that no weapons or pills were found at the scene and there were no visible signs of struggle.
According to a Lianhe Wanbao report, Mr Wee's mother discovered the bodies at around 3.45pm on Tuesday, when one of her son's business partners called to say he had been unable to contact him for two days.
The case has been classified as an 'unnatural death' and investigations are ongoing.
