Let’s see how construction of the cable-stayed bridge to the Russky Island over the Golden Horn Bay in Vladivostok is going. It’s being constructed in Vladivostok today in the framework of preparation to APEC Summit-2012.

Minister Basargin arrived at Vladivostok on March, 28th. Perhaps the mayor decided to show him around the city and the bridge under construction from a helicopter.

The last, 24th pair of cable stays installed is 395 m long. The first pair was 105 m long.

Total strand length (the northern part of the bridge) is 800 km which is longer than the distance between Vladivostok and Khabarovsk.

Strand weight is 1,400 tons.

They plan to complete the bridge by July, 1st.

The bridge To Russkiy island, many Vladivostok citizens couldn’t believe in for so long, is finally closed up. Last night workers lifted the last locking panel.

russkiybridge004-9.jpg

Russkiy bridge is an unprecedented project. Length of the bridge bay is 1104 m – not the only world record set by the builders. It has the world longest stay cables, the world highest pylons, the expansion dam breaking a record with its dimensions. The scales of the construction are just striking!

Russians lock their last bolts and seal the completion of another 1st World - and World Record engineering project. But unlike LEEgime, never misuse the "1st World" Ah Beng Ego talks. :D

Another huge bridge project is close to its finale. The long-awaited bridge over Zolotoy Rog bay united the centre of Vladivostok with Churkin cape. The final locking panel was lifted.

zolrogmost001-10.jpg

zolrogmost001-11.jpg

The idea to build a bridge over Zolotoy Rog bay appeared in minds back in the XIX century. In 1959 Nikita Khruschev ordered to turn Vladivostok into Russian “San-Francisco”, though the plan of the construction remained only on papers.
zolrogmost001-12.jpg

The tunnel 250 m deep scared the citizens first but soon it was beautified and surrounded by benches.
zolrogmost001-13.jpg

Giant pylons of the bridge 220 m high have already become the symbol of Vladivostok – they are visible from nearly all districts of the city.
zolrogmost001-14.jpg

zolrogmost001-15.jpg

zolrogmost001-16.jpg

zolrogmost001-17.jpg

Panels up to 14 m long were lifted almost weekly.
zolrogmost001-18.jpg

zolrogmost001-19.jpg

In 3 years, 8 months, 20 days the bridge over Zolotoy Rog locked up.
zolrogmost001-20.jpg

On April, 14th, the workers lifted the last, locking panel, 7 m long and 135 tons heavy, it was the “golden link” of one of the largest cable-braced bridges in the world. Only welding works remained ahead.
