Howard Webb, a member from "Mass Boycott Starhub/Singtel Overpriced World Cup Package" Facebook rebutted her reports.
________________________________________________________________
If you guys read page 5 today, u see this "brilliant" article by her when she tries to be a journalist.
1) Movie Ticket Theory
"Well, movie tickets too were cheaper, $6.50 to $7.50, despite the increase, cinemas are still packed to the brim"
She claims we should accept the pricing with open hearts just like we accept the movie ticket price hike of .......wait for it...........$1!
That's right, she actually compare the $1 price hike to the $60 price hike for the world cup. My question is , what drugs is she on? Or has the stress of SPH turn her into IMH?
Let me tell u, the people who make this sort of analogy are not football fan and clearly she is not one (she can't make up her mind if she is one also!)
2) Confused Football Fan or Fake Football Fan
She wrote " i dare not claimed to be a football fan" and follow up with "i'll record the matches just in case i am working late" " after a night of cheering and jeering, i was hooked"
Erm, so she was hooked on the cheering and jeering? She wants to record the matches for that??? Is she turned on to football by these noises ? Or is she a football fan? No idea! We all know what kind of people tend to self contradict.
3) Copyright Edward Ying
Lacking any creativity , she proceed to end her promotional article for singtel and starhub by sayng "the measly $70 can buy you abut seven drinks, you shouldn't mind skipping a few beers to watch your favourite team win the world cup"
" let me just be clear, they are paying $1 per match, it is less than 1 cup of coffee, i think they can afford that"
See that?
4) Tool for Promoting Singtel/Starhub
She then proceed to cement her tool legacy with comments like "i've been thinking of getting the early bird package (wink wink) and record the matches in case i need to work late (wink wink office people) "
5) Cheapskate Theory
She started at the begining with the idea that people that are boycotting the world cup signing up are cheapskates.. Hello, dear gal, pls WAKE UP. We paid for years of EPL, World Cup and Euros, Have you stop to think about that? We also gladly pay for jerseys. Why? Because we are HAPPY to pay for something we LIKE/SUPPORT. What we football fans, the most passionate and supportive fo ANY SPORTS don't like is this
A bunch of arrogant, greedy yet USELESS coporate suits trying to buck the responsibility of cocking up a world cup deal so bad that Singapore became a laughing stock who are NO1 HIGHEST PAYING of $94 (HK next at $54) and also THE LATEST (35 days before the opening)
After months of stupid delays, confusion and anxiety due to the inability of Singtel (struggling to cut back after spoiling the market) and Starhub (another muppet of Temasek Holdings) they act like they are heroes who saved us with the world cup.
Then they proceed to shrink any responsibility by pushing all blame to FIFA yet never explain why we are paying 9x what japan ($10) 3x (Malaysia) FREE (Indonesia) and another bullcrap comment from Singtel " the bpl bidding price has nothing to do with FIFA raisiing the price for Singapore only"
This my friends, is call denial. And obviously Pearly Tan is trying to promote for singtel.starhub by trying to make you think you are wrong for being a cheapskate and not realizing people are not signing up because of HOW IT WAS DONE.
Bottomline, we'lll happily pay for a jersey but we'll not be signing up to reward the cock up of a responsibility shrinking, arrogant ($1 coffee) and greedy (clearly exploiting even the pubs and coffee shops)
6) Journalism Tricks
Phrasing sentences like
" To avoid having to pay the $70"
Intentionally trying to create the perception of immoral activities and branding the $70 sign up as the "right way" . We are not "avoiding" anything, that would imply we are afraid of something. We are making a choice to say SCREW YOU.
The neutral phrase would be "Rather than paying the $70" but clearly the reporter is doing something else here.
" A person calling himself John Chua"
Again , creating a perception of somebody unknown. The person name is John Chua and he is the starter of this FB Group, why are you trying to create a mysterious and unknown persona?
Should really be " Starter of the FB group John Chua" if you are not a biased promotional tool pushing for starhub.sinktel.
Bottom line she is nothing but full of crap. How can anybody take her seriously when she actually compare movie ticket price of $1 hike to world cup price of $60 hike?
Pls watch out for more of these sort of rubbish promotional tools to psycho you in the media in the coming weeks.
