That is not a good comparison. Malays were not colonial masters and more like native Americans who suffered far worse fate under American exceptionalism when they were marched off their lands or boxed into reserves like wildlife. Malays had it good under the Brits and continue to enjoy privileged status post independence due of a brief association with the Malayan Federation.
The Chinese emigrated to Malaya/Malaysia in three waves. The first wave arrived in the early 15th century, about 350 years before the arrival of the British in the mid-19th century. No issues about the Chinese from the ruling sultans. The second wave occurred during the British colonial period. Contrary to popular belief, the Malay sultans were not merely symbolic statuses but did have a say and influence in matters affecting the Malays. This included the "impact" on Chinese emigration. Again, largely, no issues.
When it gained independence in 1957, Malaysia could have adopted the model that Indonesia embraced after it won independence from the Dutch whereby numerous discriminatory laws against the Chinese were enacted. Chinese schools were closed. The study of Mandarin was disallowed. Discussions on forming cohesive Chinese groups/institutions were forbidden. Public display of Chinese and traditions and culture was banned. Confucianism was eradicated. Chinese names were disallowed. And the list goes on.
Compare this with Malaysia/Singapore. The Chinese are not only allowed to retain their names, culture, traditions, practices, religion, Chinese schools, etc but also to promote and celebrate them legally and openly. In fact, the pendulum has swung to the extent that many of these fucking Chinese ingrates have the temerity to now demean the Malays, disrespect them and push them around.
When the ethnic Chinese governor, Ahok (Basuki Tjahaja Purnama) tried variations of the same despicable Malaysian/Singapore Chinese behaviour in Jakarta, Prabowo, ex-Suharto's son-in-law, and ex-Indonesian Army General made things very clear when he publicly warned the governor on 15 March 2016:
"[Ahok (Basuki Tjahaja Purnama)] should know his place lest the Indonesian Chinese face the consequences of his action".
Thanks to the Malays in Malaysia and in Singapore, the Chinese are allowed to live in peace and thrive in Malaysia and Singapore. They should not push their luck and continue to demean the Malays, their culture, religion, practices, social status, etc as some of the young Chinese fools and brainless dummies, who have no knowledge of history or traditional Confucian values, are wont to do. They should, as Prabowo said, "know their place". Otherwise, one fine day, the Chinese in Malaysia and Singapore will receive their comeuppance and blood will be shed.
What I say similary applies to another ethnic group apeing these young, brainless and rudderless Chinese fools in looking down on the Malays, i.e. the Indians.
