So when Malays are unable to compete (without affirmative action) in a meritocratic society like S'pore's, why do you assume it is due to racial discrimination?
 
Former Malaysian PM Abdullah Ahmad Badawi urged Malays to embrace meritocracy and give up the "crutches" of special govt aid. Under the affirmative action programme, Malays are given economic, education and other benefits to help narrow the wealth gap with the ethnic Chinese. The then PM said: "We must embrace meritocracy positively and view it as an opportunity to gain dignity for the community by proving we can achieve success on our own merit." The fact that this still has not happened is because every PM after him knows that Malays simply cannot compete on a level-playing field with the other races.

I have Malay colleagues in management and others in my organization who drive to the office. Meritocracy made them work hard to obtain their degrees and work their way up the corporate ladder.
 
I remember entertainer Fadzri Abd Rashid once mention this uncle who spends his day hanging around the void deck, and when Fadzri asked him why he doesn't go out, the senior said: "I have no money". When asked why he doesn't look for a job, the uncle replied: "No time". Fadzri lamented that it was the typical "Malay excuse" not to work.

I ever employed malays because they can accept lower pay than local chinks and indians. It was a bad choice that I regretted, you get what you pay. Besides performance, they have other issues such as the frequency of MC very high and in a year father or mother hospitalized several times and have to take urgent leaves. The urgent leaves can be no pay leaves as they have consumed all their leaves. You get what you paid for.

I don't know why my pinoy staff who are of the same polynesian lineage as malays are more rajin and dedicated. religion could be.

I have the same experience, but it's always a few bad apples that spoil the entire barrel.

My pay offer is the same for locals, but they offered to lower a few hundred $ themselves to increase their chances in getting the job.LOL!

Pinoys, their starting salaries are lower than malays. Those good ones I want to keep them, I will increase their pays.

Even a malay boss, he would also NOT want to keep under performing malays. He like other bosses, also needs to cover operational costs and expenditures before he is able to serve out salaries.
