LKY and LHL went on TV to explain openly too. LKY said it's for his retirement. LHL said it's for his albino and visually impaired son. They both pledged to donate the discount. But LKY and LHL missed the point. whether they bought the apts for retirement or for his son was irrelevant. Did they corruptly get discounts was the gist of the question.

pledging to donate ill gotten gains mitigated the situation. it didnt absolve them if they had been corrupt and was caught with their hands in the cookie jar

That is not what happened at all. TLH's article was after everything was completed including the parliament special hearing and the whole world came to know of it. This is what happened.

1) JYM Pillay, Singapore's long term stalwart was removed in putsch in MAS by Koh Beng Seng as MD. Koh Beng Seng head grew big and found his place. HPL began soft launch but did not extend it to shareholders. They complained. Koh Beng Seng approached GCT on an official basis. GCT had not choice but to launch and investigation and the Lee clan was confronted. Investigation revealed that Lee Clan and those with Lee & Lee were not only in the soft launch but given pick of the best units. Worse still, LHL and wife got more than double the discount. Old man's brother was a Director in HPL.

2) A Parlimentary Inquiry was held and the infamous "2 eggs in the Kway Teow" argument was used by old man. Dhanabalan gave his all time supreme performance of painting old man as God and should not be doubted.

3) Koh Beng Seng was asked to leave the Govt despite having years before retirement and went to work in Bangkok. It was a lesson to all civil servants not to get too smart.

4) JYM Pillay was recalled from exile in London as High Commissioner and given SGX Chairmanship.

wahhh..stewardess! it's a glamourous job!! dont know when you were in the airline job but you must have gone through quite a thorough and humiliating interview. my friend went for an SIA stewardess selection interview and told me that she felt quite humiliated.

Yes, NTUC chief is a joke and a puppet. I saw an old clip of the press conference of the SIA pilots saga. LKY dominated the conference and LBH was beside him, looking like a lost school boy sitting next to the principal..LBH looked so frightened and was on the verge of tears
