$20k down the drain. At least now I know there are more retards than I had assumed.

During election, you can just jump down from westin hotel and we will have some entertainment from you. That will make yourself much useful than talk rubbish in this forum.

You may try to do the similar stunt at BKK Westin Bayan Tree Resort... They got nice Skyline and you will have a bird eye view while free fall.... Enjoy falling.....

:D

bro, think far for the next generation. instead protest not to vote GMS, CSJ ETC, why not protest pap for voting GMS, CSJ. singapore is going to tarnish very soon if we the only last hope to vote pap out, remember old fark said this place is not a nation yet , wat his agenda? simply want to squeese the rest of ur and ur next generation life... think wise, don't get divert when doing a major decision...

I am thinking for the next generation. This ten tribal chiefs fighting not only a giant party but also among themselves rubbish must be stopped before any truly sane democracy can be founded in Singapore with two or three parties with roughly comparable influence. How can there be ten different ideas on how to run a small country like Singapore? Singapore has ten or more small opposition parties not because of ideas, but because of egoistic idiots wanting to be secretary-generals or chairmen.

Rightly or wrongly, CSJ has traditionally has had a low level of popular support.

The $20k that SDP managed to raise in such a short period of time is unprecendented in the modern political history of Singapore.

This seems to suggest that the swing against the PAP might be much larger than previously expected.

And unlike previously when Singaporeans just muttered and grumbled without doing doing anything, it would appear that many more are now willing to stand up and do something against the PAP.

Also, it would appear that the events in Egypt are having an impact. Prior to the events in Egpyt and Tunisia, writers like Seah Chiang Nee had already observed that there was a gradual political awakening in Singapore. The non stop coverage by the global news networks is like adding kerosene to charcoal which is already smouldering.

We might therefore have to revise those forecasts of PAP's popular vote. Previously I had forecast that it would be in the range of 55% to 60%. I was fairly sure the 55% floor would not be breached. With recent events, a return of 53% to 58% might be more realistic.

The number will of course go much lower if there is a release of properly documented misbehaviour of some senior PAP leaders.

There's no swing, at least not towards SDP. It's a con job and con show.

I just don't get it.

Why would S'poreans want to come forward to help a megalomaniac/near-psychopath/liar stay out of prison?

http://singaporemind.blogspot.com/2008/05/chee-psychopath-liar-cheat.html
" a megalomaniac/near-psychopath/liar "

Who said so?

I know yr daddy said so openly many times, but frankly I find it hard to believe this fr a top lawyer who always demand HARD evidence when fighting any case!

But I tot you claimed all the while here that you DID NOT quite trust yr daddy, all of us know that.

SO???Yaka???

20k down the drain. he will surely goes in again

Not likely, wind of change and likely a sign for PAP to make the old fart step down to retire. every minutes old fart live is a God's given time to him. It is time for his son to step up to make his old fart leave.

it takes small step towards democracy. If it can takes Old Fart 50 years of his life time to make you pee in your pants if you talk bad about him in kopitaim, it will take as much time to free Singaporeans without dictatorship like it happening now in Eygpt.

Singapore Democrats

csj_wb-imf.jpg

We are glad to announce that we have reached the target of $20,000 in contributions for Dr Chee Soon Juan's fine. We wish to thank each and everyone of you who have donated to the fund to keep Dr Chee out of prison so that he is available to lead the SDP during the upcoming GE. The final tally is $20,120.

This is a historical development in that it is the first time that Singaporeans have rallied together to show such encouraging support for an opposition cause.

More than just keeping Dr Chee out of jail, Singaporeans have rallied and sent a message that they will not sit idly by when the opposition is persecuted.

Thank you for your contributions

It is also significant that the effort has been entirely driven on the Internet. In this regard, the Singapore Democrats would like to acknowledge the role and the support given by the online community such as newsblogs Temasek Review, The Online Citizen, 3in1 Kopitiam as well as forummers in Sam's Alfresco Coffee Shop, SgForums and other online forums.

It is important that we continue to leverage on cyberspace to increase political space in Singapore. This exercise has given civil society and the opposition a gauge on the power of the new media. It has shown that when we come together, we can be an effective force. We can only gain confidence as we build up our influence to open up society in Singapore.

The donations came in big and small packages. Some were in the thousands but many were smaller amounts of $10. Most inspiring was the fact that many were youths. A few indicated that they were financially not well-off but wanted to do their part for democracy. One retiree even gave $500 and would have given more if he did not have to pay for his dialysis treatment. We declined the offer but the donor insisted that we accept it.

To this gentleman and to all of you, we say a big thank you.

Now we press on with our fight for freedom and justice. The SDP is, and will always be, your voice.

Yours sincerely,

Well done SDP. Now the peoples' power is talking.

Having read the negative remarks on Dr Chee, I just wonder how many of these people actually met him, talked to him and try to understand why he does what he does.

I met Dr Chee once and I must say that he was most friendly and cordial even I was a complete stranger to him.

He might have made mistakes in his approach but he was willing to stake all that he has for a cause. That include going to prison.

Just wonder how many of us are courageous enough to do that for any cause.

I have met the guy. I have heard him talk and had conversations with him. I have nothing against him as a person. But we are not talking about just a person, but the general psycho-politics here, which Chee is lacking.

Chee might be full of conviction to you, but after looking at how he functions and how his party behave, as of his supporters, i seriously do not wish to see such domination taking place.

We do not need to replace a dictatorship with another.

Replace Lee with Chee? You must be kidding or smoking something illegal.

I'll take a Lee walkover anytime by locking Chee up and throw the keys into crocodile ponds.

Because no other politician got that hide thick enough to ask for donations publicly to save his time in prison. He learnt fast from that Tampines fc player who seek 10K from his fans to get out of prison.

This seems to suggest that the swing against the PAP might be much larger than previously expected.

And unlike previously when Singaporeans just muttered and grumbled without doing doing anything, it would appear that many more are now willing to stand up and do something against the PAP.
Did you donate a single cent? Even if a person donated $10, that would only be 2000 people. And I don't even think there is 200 people who donated to him.

Also, it would appear that the events in Egypt are having an impact. Prior to the events in Egpyt and Tunisia, writers like Seah Chiang Nee had already observed that there was a gradual political awakening in Singapore. You can really conjure something out of nothing. I am amazed.

I thought you said the elections would be held last dec 2010? :p

I have no problem with NSP until that madman GMS joined. It's obvious, isn't it? He's classically one of those you said in your previous posting who must be party leader and Indian chief. His ego and personal cause override whatever national cause that he's pretending to fight for. Now he's supposedly fighting for Malays. Oh please! I'll vote PAP if I live in Tampines. Not that I support PAP, but a reverse protest vote against NSP for catering to such a madman.

I don't think we'll agree on NSP, but I think we will for the rest, eg RP.

Now with SUP as SDP proxy and the $20k episode, I will put SDP together in the list with RP. My vote for the opposition will only go to WP, NSP or Chiam in whichever party (after thinking again) and the rest spoil vote.

Very sane. I have no objection. :)
