1,000 Singaporeans renounce their SG citizenship.
150,000 Singaporeans working overseas.

Mr Lim Biow Chuan, MP for Marine Parade GRC, suggested that the Government to consider conducting exit interview for Singaporeans intending to emigrate to find out why they want to do so.

Mr Lim, who is a man, with great knowledge, earns millions a year, doesn't really know the real reasons?

now they want to start interviewing ! Isnt it very very wrong ??????

The reason why they waited till now has to do with waiting for that wooden Goh's daughter to escape first, followed by other MIWs' kids. When found out, the "honest mistake" excuse will, as usual, sweep the issue under the carpet.

FTrash are labelled as talents while local talents are labelled as "quitters" even to this day. Any more doubt how serious they really are with this "bright" idea? If an entire troop of MPees and ministers can go on jiat hong "study trips", what else is not possible? Btw, "exit interviews" are only applicable to companies. Is Peesai really no longer a cuntry, but some Familee's corporate cash cow?

Hi, I am one of the 150,000 that is living and working overseas. I have made Chengdu my permanent home as i am required by my company to be here for the long run. I was also an ex-SAF regular and have never thought of giving up my citizenship because I believe I have more than earned it.

As to the 1000 that leave every yr., they are exercising their God given right to do so. I don't think the exit interviews would do any good if someone has already made their mind to go. Bearing in mind that the decision to give up the citizenship is not an easy one to make no matter how one feels about Singapore.

Being overseas for a few years, I must say that the pink I/C is not without value. Each and every one of us swinging dicks spend 2 to 2.5 years earning it. When you are overseas, then you will realise how easy it is to get in and out of many many countries unlike a US passport or some other passports (e.g. Arabic) sorry no offense meant.

Also, many in China look up to us as we are a small red dot that makes a large impact in our region and throughout the world. As long as we are not arrogant, generally we are respected.

If you think our country is restrictive, come and stay permanently here in southwest China and you'll realise how lucky we are.

Cheers

Usually on a renounce form they will already ask for the reasons. An interview would be wasting taxpayers resources...everyone leaves for greener pastures...no one leaves for something worse off

Exit interview won't work unless it can be done anonymously like in a free & fair election. Otherwise got fear of repercussions for giving real reasons for quitting.

Yea, those leaving would have done their homework already. It is not something anyone doing this take lightly off.

For the government to do so at this late stage is only being REACTIVE. They should bloody well know the reasons for these people leaving and be PROACTIVE in making conditions more endurable. Otherwise it will be another WAYANG from the political angle, and a DUMB (considering that they have so many bright lads who are more highly paid than the private sector) move that waste more taxpayers' money.

Why don't they interview those PRs who have taken up citizenships and later decided to leave for good?

Is S'pore not better than where they came from and not good enough as compared to where they are going to?

SPH already know the answer to this question as they reported many years ago that fully 30 percent of the people leave is because of SAF and NS. Those with access to the archieve please bring out the article and settle this matter once and for all. NS IS KILLING SG.

People leave for many reasons:

To take back their CPF, yearn for slower pace in life, dream of staying in big house away from pigeon hole, less crowds, for socially gracious place, fresher air and most importantly to prevent PAP ah long kept pestering peasants for every cent they earned. When peasant, Tah Boleh Tahang, wanted to shift house, having Ah Long to conduct exit interview is so ironically.

Sorry hor, why are you comparing SG with China? Might as well go all the way and say we are lucky not to be born in Ethopia. Everyone wants to step up in life and people got their own interpretation of it.
Alot of sinkees who migrated are not businessmen type who travel round the world, so they do not really care about what country the sinkee passport can get one in with ease. All they know is sinkeeland got more cons and their adopted cuntry got more pros. Period.
