WP rally: Pritam Singh says the PAP wants Singaporeans to sign a blank cheque

In his second rally speech of the election campaign, WP chief Pritam Singh criticised the PAP manifesto for lacking substance.

Saying that some voters have put manifestos of both PAP and WP into AI models to compare them, he said: “Whichever AI model you choose, either ChatGPT or DeepSeek, one result is clear – the PAP manifesto is short on substance and specifics, but it is loaded with motherhood statements.

“We have a PAP manifesto without specific policy ideas. I believe it is because the PAP wants Singaporeans to sign a blank cheque.”

The police are controlling pedestrian and vehicle traffic in the vicinity of Temasek Junior College, where WP held its rally tonight.

Heavy traffic is expected in the area, and members of the public are advised to enter from exit C of Tampines East MRT station, as exit D of the station is temporarily closed, the Singapore Police Force said in a Facebook post. They should also follow the instructions of ushers and officers on the ground.

WP rally: ‘NTUC is a safe harbour for losing candidates,’ says Pritam Singh

In making a case for the WP candidates in Jalan Kayu SMC and Tampines Changkat SMC, WP chief Pritam Singh said that PAP labour candidates there do not need to be elected into Parliament.

The PAP candidates in Jalan Kayu SMC and Tampines Changkat SMC are NTUC secretary-general Ng Chee Meng and assistant secretary-general Desmond Choo.

“Residents of Tampines, there is no shortage of PAP labour MPs in Parliament. Voting in these two PAP NTUC candidates will not make a difference. Instead, I invite you to cast your vote for a more balanced Parliament,” he said.

"NTUC is a safe harbour for losing PAP candidates - just ask Ng Chee Meng,” he said, adding that PAP’s candidates would probably continue to work in NTUC, continuing to serve workers there.

He also cited the example of Mr Shamsul Kamar, who resigned as a schoolteacher to contest in Aljunied GRC for PAP, having later found employment in NTUC after losing the election.

Mr Singh added: “Ng Chee Meng’s work at NTUC shows that he and Desmond Choo do not need to be elected to Parliament to look after workers. I ask all voters and Singaporeans, keep them focused on their NTUC jobs.”

Don't underestimate them. They have a strong silent majority of voters from boomers to new citizens.

All Opposition supporters need to do is to spread our own message and pray that more will be convinced that PAP political dominance is not ideal for Singapore's future.

Power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. Citizens must be warned about the dangers of concentrated power and the potential for abuse by PAP.
