At the very end of the rally speech, WP chief Pritam Singh briefly addressed remarks from PM Lawrence Wong. During a press conference on Saturday afternoon, PM Wong had called on opposition leaders to firmly reject identity politics and foreign interference.

Mr Singh said: “I passionately believe in a race neutral Singapore where we are judged not by our race or the color of our skin, but by our deeds and our common humanity. My colleagues and I categorically reject the involvement of any foreign element whatsoever in our domestic politics. Singapore is our business. Nobody else’s.”

He added: “And if I can put on my party hat, to any foreign element, the Workers’ Party does not need your support. We only need the support of our people, our fellow Singaporeans.”

WP rally: Kenneth Foo pitches a ‘Tampines plan’

Tampines Changkat SMC candidate Kenneth Foo took a jab at the PAP’s “East Coast plan” from the last GE, pitching his own “Tampines plan”.

He said: “In the past, Tampines was one GRC. After the last electoral boundary review, you got split into two. Feels like East and West Germany, North and South Korea. But don’t worry, the Workers’ Party has a plan. It is called the Tampines plan.”

The plan: Get voters to vote in all the WP candidates in Tampines GRC and Tampines Changkat SMC, and the constituencies would be served by one town council.

Later in his speech, he also said PAP could do better than offering CDC vouchers and cheap breakfasts, citing Singapore's budget surpluses: "If the PAP really wants to treat you, they need more than kopi, kaya toast, ice cream. Ask them to bring out the siew mai, har gow, xiao long bao. And I also say free flow of roti prata as well."

WP rally: Faisal Manap pledges to serve all residents equally, regardless of race and religion

WP candidate for Tampines GRC Faisal Manap did not directly address the issue of religion and politics or foreign interference that had been a topic for much of the campaign today, but pledged that he would serve all residents equally, regardless of race and religion.

“I am a minority candidate, a Malay-Muslim, regardless I will serve the residents of Tampines GRC regardless of language race and religion equally and to the best of my abilities, similar to how I serve my multi-racial and multi-religious communities in my Kaki Bukit ward.”

He added: “This is my commitment and my oath, witnessed by all of you and god.”

He also thanked the residents of his previous ward, Kaki Bukit in Aljunied GRC for turning him into a better person during the course of his political journey.

However, he said that they would understand why he had to make the move to Tampines GRC. He also thanked his volunteers and the staff of AHTC, seeking forgiveness for his shortcomings during his service in Kaki Bukit.
