People's Park Complex was actually quite a happening place back in the 1980s. I have faint memories of that place. It was something like a livelier version of Sim Lim Square, but with a wider variety of shops. There were even video game shops there, all the kids would gather round a shop to watch a pro gamer effortlessly clearing the game in one session.

Then China joined the WTO, and the Tiong invasion of Chinatown began. People's Park Complex became their hub.
