Right on track!

Just treat Covid like the flu. Both are relatively mild diseases with low IFR.
OK, two responses to your post. Firstly, COVID19 is not the flu. We know that from extensive data readily available from authorities. Secondly, it's irresponsible to dispense medical advice when you are not a qualified doctor. We know that because you are only the manager of a two-bit sex forum.

What is the point in being a qualified doctor?

"MedicalAdvice" is taboo these days.

"Stupid doctor" try to teach me about breast cancer. I read on internet and know way more than him.

"Idiot doctor" tell me to take covid vaccine! I read Nobel Laureate say the vaccine is a death sentence!

"Fucked up doctor" tell me to take statin to lower cardiovascular risk. I read on internet statins kill your liver! Shorten your life.

"Ignorant lying doctor" tell me not to drive for 4 hours after smoking marijuana. I swear I have been smoking while driving for over 20 years and not had any problem!

Because at the end of the day, healthcare is more than just reading about some ailment info on the Internet. A doctor's training, knowledge and experience will ultimately prevail. The majority of us will still see a qualified doctor when we feel unwell. When you feel there's something wrong with your health, will you go get a real qualified doctor's advice or will you come here and get advice from Sam?

I did not say that Covid was the flu. I said that both diseases are mild with low IFRs.

Covid is a threat to the elderly while flu is more of a threat to the young.

COVID19 should not be treated like the flu.

Is that with or without medical care?

Honestly with or without makes very little difference in the grand scheme of things.

As for Covid outcomes I'm surprised that the climate activists are not involved in these debates. Whether or not you believe in climate change "science" the fact remains that there are far too many people on the planet and if Covid really is as deadly as some make it out to be surely it provides and excellent opportunity to reduce the world population thereby significantly reducing the carbon output of the human race.

For umpteen centuries nature provided a check and balance which ensured that the population did not get too unwieldy. Just let the virus do its job and then we can go back to living life normally till the next pandemic.

COVID19 should not be treated like the flu.

It can be treated in the manner which provides the best outcomes. In the meantime those that are not sick should be entitled to earn a living.

Two things:
Firstly, no, COVID cannot be treated in the same manner as the flu.
Secondly, nobody is denying anyone, sick or not, the right to earn a living. If you are sick, stay home and don't infect others, if you are not sick, take the necessary precautions so you don't fall sick.

Well, put it this way. Our doctor did not take the mRNA. So?

And when I put a mirror in front of you, you too are in a two-bit sex forum. So? At least he is the manager.

Yes, guilty as charged. I am in a two-bit sex forum and he is the manager.

The grouse here is that many businesses are affected due to covid measures, and some like F&B outlets are hit hard due to covid shutdowns.

These guys want to do business, but the G needs to take public health into consideration. So in some sense, keeping people safe is preventing them from making a living.

As for me, I am a biased observer, because I actually earned more every time there was a lockdown

Agreed. I am waiting to see what are the measures from 18 August onwards and if they are productive or counterproductive.

If 80% of us are fully vaccinated, there is no reason why they cannot open up at least 80% of businesses. This lockdown can't last forever. They have to start somewhere.

It's easy for those whose income is not affected by lockdowns and travel bans to advocate staying in a bunker indefinitely. Unfortunately there are millions out there who are starving to death because of lockdowns.
This one i am 101% in agreement with you.

Where we differ is how to move forward in a pragmatic realistic and sustainable way based on the best current science data available...main emphasis being to reopen as much as possible in the fastest time possible without putting undue strain on the health care system.

There are those who do not want to be vaccinated and want the country to open up as well.

Actually I think government should be more hands off.

Just open up. Make vaccines available.

Let people choose.

Remember that those who vaccinate and those who dont vaccinate both think their choice is the safer of the two.
If only it was that simple...

The big problems arise when the unvaccinated numbers relating to oxygen, icu and death start going up dramatically once everything reopens...

Then the health care system is at risk....and this affects the whole society...not just the unvaccinated...

It goes further than that...especially for open global economies like Sin...lots of biz rely on the flow of international traffic...

CB and HA meaures cannot continue indefinitely without causing permanent damage to lots of biz

I don't see how the unvaccinated have any influence on the vaccinated.

If we both go to sea and I choose not to wear a life jacket while you do and the ship sinks then I drown and you don't. My decision has no influence on your outcome whatsoever.
Apples and Oranges here...

Our health care system is at risk...that is the unfortunate consequence...

The vaccinated are being infected at the same rate as the unvaccinated and are equally capable of harboring variants.

Nobody will bother saving me as I'll be a bloated corpse in the water by the time the rescuers arrive so they'll go straight to rescuing you. However if we both wear life jackets then there'll be two survivors and the rescuers will have to prioritise which one to winch up first.
Again Apple and Orange...

Infection is not the issue...

The main issue now is serious illness and death...fully vaccinated seems to protect against this much more than unvaccinated...

That is why we need to push for vaccination and boosters when available to deal with specific current variants...
