Good time to own an old PARF car

CAT A COE crashed $9000 today to hit $25000 and CAT B COE is at $31000 level.

However, owning a new car is not very much cheaper because of the new pollution-related taxes eg. CEV. This is partially the reason for the COE weakness.

In the months ahead, PQP for CAT A & B is expected to be closer to $30000 for an old car. This is the cost to renew COE for car for another ten years. No doubt you are giving up your PARF rebate (not high these days) when you renew COE; the additional COE cost of driving the car for another ten years is now almost less than $300 a month.

PARF Cars refers to cars that have never renewed COE.

Good for second car in the household? I mean, CEVS nonsense has weakened the COEs so make the best out of the situation.

No point scrapping the car since it is so cheap to renew. Good for food delivery too, my KFC order came in a car before, haha
