They have a combined net worth of US$16.9b.
Real estate remains the most lucrative business in land-scarce Singapore. Philip Ng, CEO of Far East Organization, is the richest man in the country with an estimated net worth of US$5.2 billion.
According to the Wealth X and UBS Billionaire Census 2013, nearly 80% of the property tycoon’s net worth comes from his real estate holdings.
Ng’s net worth accounts for about one-fifth of the combined wealth of the 10 individuals on the Wealth-X list, which includes citizens of Brazil, New Zealand and Indonesia who have established their primary business addresses in Singapore and reside there.
In second place 32-year-old Facebook co-founder Eduardo Saverin, who moved to Singapore in 2009 and has a net worth of US$ 4.2 billion.
Richard Chandler of Chandler Corporation claims third place with US$2.8b, while Kuok Khoon Hong of Wilmar International is ranked fourth with US$2.4b. Indonesia’s Sukanto Tanoto closes the top five with US$2.3b.
Private investor Peter Lim claims rank six with US$2.2b. The remaining members of the top ten are Cheng Liang Goh of Wuthelam Holdings (US$2.1b), Ivanhoe Capital’s Robert Martin Friedland with US$1.9b, Oon Kuin Lim of Hin Leong Group with US$1.8b, and Seng Hui Goi Tee Yih Jia Group with US$1.8b.
