Not sure about others but I do know some who want to make a decent living after having spent many years behind bars. They aren't the troublesome type. Alot depends on the manager or boss too. If the bouncers bo hew them, sure luan tio. Also important to be able to spot a bomb from exploding. Anywhere where drinks are sold and got char bors around, more likelihood of fights.
So some of the managers expect the bouncers to be guai lan and intimidating but honestly speaking i am sure there are psychos and bullies that try to become bouncers or police officers to abuse their power.

Most of those bouncers there are bullies. Taking steroids, have some size wearing some tight black t-shirt acting like they are the stars of the club. It's quite common in countries all over the world but the difference in bouncers from western countries vs bouncers here is that even though western countries do have bouncers that are bullies they also have many chill and cool ones that do very good jobs in talking and difusing the situation. In sg not really. The bouncers will just call down 20-40 of his other bouncers to whack up 1 patron.
yah! when fight starts, that means bouncer never do their job. that's what my friend told me too. they have to patrol too and if anyone get too rowdy. they will interfere and maybe throw them out if customers insist on getting physical.
Not siding the bouncers, but feel we must listen to their side of the story too.. Young chap could be so yaya and big headed towards the bouncers till they assaulted him that bad.. Anyway the bouncers should not be so overly agressive in the first place until to whack the chap until he ended up in the ICU..
Once I saw a few big sized Mat and Chinese bouncers at club whacking a drunk Keling outside the carpark for stupidly picking up a fight with them.. They pounced on him like a pack of Pitbulls.. Keling flattened on the ground within 3 mins..

Like i mentioned many bouncers in sg are overly aggressive and they will attack in huge numbers you know like a legal gang.
Sometimes bouncers cannot avoid fights....you need to fight to break up fights but the trick is to end it fast and drag the offending patrons out.
Professional bouncers dun fight outside their premises. Their job is to maintain order within....anything outside call police.
My friends in the trade tell me once a fight break out they will overwhelm the troublemakers in numbers by hammering everyone involved regardless of who wrong who right....done in double quick time then drag out the buggers and kick them out. End of story....most respect them for it....patrons who not happy come back seek revenge they will report police.
