GMS: An Open Invitation to PM Lee to Stay 1 Week in HDB Pigeonhole

I kinda like this too:

-- if he doesn't respond, but it's all over the news, he will be thought of as not being as "consultative" as he is claiming or trying to be
-- if he responds with a "no", there will be comments on his reasons
-- if he responds with a "yes", take out the popcorn, got show to see liao. :D

If he really says "yes", kee chiu if you think GMS can handle it.

mayb he'll send kate spader! ...

Kate Spateless is willing to volunteer for this mission.

Ironically, the best option he has is to accept the invitation. Counter-intuitive to many PAP people but that is the case.

Whether I can handle it? Haha... cross the bridge when the time comes. :)

wow. Even you don't believe he will take you seriously. How can like that Goh?

Not a matter of belief. I am just stating the point that the best option for him is to take up the invitation but the way I see you PAP people react, I guess he is not going to make the intelligent decision. :)

why would saying yes be the intelligent thing to do?

Dear Mr Goh Meng Seng.

Your invitation to the PM of Singapore to spend the week with you and your friends is a good and worthwhile proposal.

It is certainly the best way for a VIP like the PM to truly experience empathy first-hand. Simply put, "from a layman point of view".

Very true, that such an experience will further enrich the PM and make him much more sympathetic, besides exposing his feedback channels as humbugs.

In the early years, LHL father (LKY) also toured many remote kampongs and spent much time with the folks.

That is how he won the hearts and minds of the Singapore people and PAP went on to govern Singapore until now.

PM Lee took high risks to freely mingle with the common folks much to the frustration of his security officers.

His (LKY's) lackaidaisical attitude once caused him to be pushed into a trench.

However, time has changed for the worse from yesteryears, when the security officers were operating in a very different environment.

This is not the case today with the threat of international terrorism and the prospect of becoming a target for extermination, ridicule and blackmail.

This is also the age of hidden cameras, high-tech hand-phones and sophisticated weapons and other gadgets. Also anthrax powder threats, etc....

As a matter of safety, the Head of the Police Security Department Will NEVER give the green light for such an "adventure".

He and his men are responsible for the safety and well-being of the elected PM of Singapore. Chosen leader by the people.

PM LHL Party (PAP) won through a Parliamentary Election and this was conducted under the Parliamentary Elections Act -thru casting of votes to determine "first-past-the-post" system.

Even if the PM is approachable and most willing to accede to such a request, "he may still not be made available" for he is considered as "public property" that is accorded all protection by the State Security organs.

The simple reason is that the Security Department will never sanction such a thing in the first place.

So, please do not misunderstand the PM if he says NO to your request. Do not take it as a denial to "emphatise".

He is duty-bound to listen to his security people just like the American President has to do likewise with members of his Secret Service.

GMS should post this on PM Lee's FB page

Ooh no no no. Rabid Goh thinks that sending a copy to the press, editor, etc is already "doing his part".

That's why I said he is insincere with the invitation. His selfish motivation is obvious.

I, too, think that this is the best option for him. His only hesitation is transparency. If you can be transparent about the details, I don't see why he will object. The other thing is formality. He will accept it if it can gain him political mileage. He will want to milk the highest publicity from it. So do it officially and he would want details to be thrashed out in the public, I think. Don't expect to have it all your own way.

It might earn Goh some political mileage, but why would it earn PM Lee any political mileage? Please explain.

Dear Mr Goh Meng Seng,

He is duty-bound to listen to his security people just like the American President has to do likewise with members of his Secret Service.

This last part is the giveaway. No self-respecting ruler will draw upon practices done elsewhere to justify his own decision.

I don't think you will be able to understand any of this discussion.

LOL. Gives me the impression that you were trying to explain, then gave up and edit away.

Don't think it'll be all over the news. If it does, don't think he'll be looking bad. Singaporeans no matter how dumb you think they are know that being "consultative" doesn't mean people can start issuing dares to people. This is a secret society game where the ah beng would say "eh lu bo chee ah"? You think our politics will devolve to that stage?

I left out "think" in the original message and inserted it in the amendment. Problem with using a smartphone to post. Certain posts deserve the most appropriate response.

thats exactly correct. But Goh is desperate and doesn't understand that. He reads the people wrongly all the time.

This invite may not sound ridiculous.

At least it can spark a Novel Start to how policies can be formed in the future reflecting the circumstances of people at the ground.:o
