[h=2]To highlight the quality of service SPF officers provide[/h]

Dear fellow citizens,
I am writing this article as I am really very annoyed with the way our very ‘capable’ Singapore Police Force (SPF) works.
I used to be a police officer myself from 2005 to 2011.
I got myself injured during the course of my work. I am appreciative that my entire medical fees and treatment was borne by the organization. However, the injury was quite severe upon an assessment by MRI that I was barred from IPPT and was transferred to a desk-bound position as any injury to my back will cause me to be paralysed.
Recently, I received a letter from SPF notifying me to attend IPPT. I am amazed that I receive this letter to take my IPPT as I have not taken my IPPT since the official debarment took place in the year 2007. I decided to write an email to the sender of the letter to me on 24[SUP]th[/SUP] August 2012. I did not receive any acknowledgement of the email or any reply for this email. I decided to take another step by calling up the department. Calls to the person who sent the email was fruitless as the line is always busy. I decided to call another number that is linked to a W/SGT(Women Sergeant).
I was able to speak to this W/SGT. However I was amazed at the way she handled my call. She seems to be unaware on what is going on within the SPF. I explain to her my whole situation about how my injury was certified by the Home Team Medical Board. Her reply was that she was not sure what Home Team Medical Board is or if she ever heard of it. This is surprising as during my time in SPF, there was a circular being given out to inform all officers that once they are barred from IPPT, they had to attend this medical board. Another surprising find was that I was still categorized as PES A despite official review by this Home Team Medical Board. Upon further queries, she told me that she would check and revert within 1 week.
I decided to probe further by calling the unit that I was previously attached to. I checked and found out that my official file has been forwarded to the relevant NSmen department upon my last day in service. The officer-in–charge told me I could check further on my status with the NS record department. I called up the NS record department and got further update on my reservist status. They inform me that there was no record for me as I was a former regular officer and that I have to check with another department that handles officers that resigned from the force. A call to the department brought about a wonderful discovery. It seems that my medical status was never updated there either. According to the officer who spoke to me, medical status can only be confirmed with CMPB (Central Manpower Base) or HTA (Home Team Academy) medical review. Therefore, I decided to question him what is the Home Team Medical Board for, since its decision of a police officer medical status is not valid. The officer was not able to commit to an answer. Another question that I have for him was as to whether I am still required to attend the IPPT. The answer he gave was a blatant “YES”. Upon further probing, the officer decided that he cannot make further decision and will check with his superior and will get back to me by the end of the day. However, he has yet to get back to me.
So now I am wondering if I am supposed to attend the IPPT session even though I am fully barred and risk being paralysed. I know without a doubt that I will never get a reply from SPF regardless the amount of email I write or the amount of calls I made.
All I have left to say to the officers handling my case is a big fat ‘WELL DONE’ for having caused me such distress.
Best regards,
