SINGAPORE: The family of Mr Tang Wee Sung, who underwent a kidney transplant operation a week ago, said he is doing well.

The 56—year—old is in a high—dependency ward at the National University Hospital.

There have been rumours of Mr Tang’s health deteriorating, but they were disputed by a family spokesperson and friend on Friday evening.

It was reported last week that he had received a kidney from ex—triad leader Tan Chor Jin who was executed on January 9.

Mr Tang knows the donor’s identity, but has refused to divulge further details to maintain the privacy of the donor’s family.

Mr Tang was fined S$17,000 and jailed for one day last September for agreeing to buy a kidney illegally from an Indonesian and for lying to the Commissioner of Oaths.

Government will always try to take away power of Singaporeans.

Assign bad end to the Tang family.

The Tang family sure don't need the government.

Government is a burden.

Tang Wee Sung "coping well" with new kidney
By Hoe Yeen Nie, Channel NewsAsia | Posted: 29 January 2009 1818 hrs

SINGAPORE: Singapore retail magnate Tang Wee Sung, who underwent a kidney transplant earlier this month, has been moved out of the high-dependency ward.

A family spokesman said Mr Tang's kidney is functioning well without the aid of machines.

He added that Mr Tang's health is improving, and he could be discharged from the National University Hospital soon.

The former executive chairman of CK Tang reportedly received his organ from former gang leader Tan Chor Jin, who was executed on January 9.

Mr Tang was earlier fined and jailed, for agreeing to buy a kidney illegally, and for lying to the Commissioner of Oaths.

I beg your pardon.

Source got mixed up with Wee Sung's eldest brother, 75 year old Tang Wee Cheng's demise.

Anyway in 1990 it was Wee Sung who masterminded to oust Wee Cheng out of CK Tang's empire,
and it looks like Wee Sung is paying for his misdeeds (his suffering with his damaged kidneys) while
Wee Cheng has returned from NZ to rest in peace in his homeland.

My sincere apology for the mix-up.

Perhaps he is benefiting from the HOTA program. He gets his spare organ parts replacement every now and then. Unfortunately the replaced heart always come from executed murderers.

There was never a heart replacement! It wasn't required because the patient never had one in the first place! :p:biggrin::p:smile:

Tang Wee Cheng was a good, decent man and he was also very humble and honourable, but not his
two rogue younger brothers, Wee Sung and Wee Kit who ganged up together to throw him out of the
CK Tang business empire which he helped to build. At that point of time their father CK Tang was still
around, but he was so ill, he could not intervene.

He and his family migrated to NZ immediately after he was ousted out by Ah Sung and Ah Kit.

Actually, to be correct, Wee Cheng was not ousted out of CK Tang. The empire was roughly split into 2. The Emporium when to the 2 younger brothers, and Dynasty Hotel went to Wee Cheng's side. At that time, the emporium was the profitable crown jewel inthe empire while the hotel was a money losing new venture. AFter all, the Tangs were retailers and not hoteliers. U seem to know the Tangs, if u wish, u can PM me.

Tang Wee Cheng was a decent man. He had great influence thru the CK Tang brand. thousands of ex employees remember him, as well as people associated in his church. Therefore, its news when he passes away.

Yes, he was a decent human being. However, I don't have the same opinion of his wife. Just a correction, I don't think the family left immediately to NZ. IIRC, at least one if not both sons were still doing NS, and they had to disposed of their assets. The search for a business to do in NZ was also not an easy one.
