S'pore not hosting 2013 or 2015 SEA games due to delay in building of Sports Hub

It is because our ASEAN neighbours are poor tourists :o & unable to spend a lot in Singapore (like staying in luxury hotels) while supporting their national teams here.

Unlike F1 or YOG, this attracts big spending power tourists & sport officials from around the world (exp Europe) travelling to Singapore staying in luxury hotels & buying branded goods in Paragon Orchard. Sg garment welcome this type of foreign tourists here.

Hosting SEA Games to them (sg garment) probably losing $$$ & wasting time & effort

Spore govt also one kind. Anything that makes money or give "world exposure", the govt is the 1st to put up the hand. SEA games are mostly for poor neighbours, so the govt siam aside. KNN!

Phui. Next time ask our minister don't talk cock, announce big big like going to build new high tech stadium with fully cover roof top that can open. Somemore even middle of the stadium grass can be remove and replace.
Now lan lan give lots of reason of delays. Temasek and GLC lost more than $100b last year but cannot afford to build new stadium cost $1b.

In PRC, CCP built the bird nest stadium in Beijing for Olympic 2008.

In Taiwan, ROC.. DPP Frank Hsieh built the World Games stadium in Kaohsiung.

You sure they are ready to host YOG ? The rate things are going; how things will eventually turn out is very questionable. The media for sure will be on hyper-drive on damage control.

Singapore has never been an ideal location as a sports venue given its limited land resources and hosts of restrictions. From previous SEA Games held locally; it was a logistical nightmare spread throughout the island even for such a small scale games.
