SINGAPORE: Singaporeans appear to be the happiest people in Asia, going by what they are saying on social media.

According to the Asia Happiness Index 2013 of Eden Strategy Institute, a social innovation player, Singapore is ranked first among five countries in the region.

It has an index score of 518, followed by Malaysia with 245.

The Philippines is third with a score of 90, followed by India 29, and Indonesia 11.

The index covers over 200 million social media accounts.

Who were target groups in the survey (PAP members)?
What was the population size (only 500, 1k, 2k)?

As long as surveys are conducted under the influence of loyalists...
Results are quite doubtful.

The internationally respected Gallup Poll has just released a report on happiness in the world.

Not surprisingly, if you know the island like I do, Singapore has earned the dubious distinction of having the most unhappy people in the world, even less happy than war torn Iraqi, poverty stricken camel grazing terrorist infested desert Yemeni or vessel hijacking Somali where there is simply nothing.

Not only that, in fact just a few weeks ago, the same Gallup poll had given Lee Kuan Yew’s Singapore the other dubious distinction of being the most "emotionless" people in the world.

Gallup poll report is read worldwide, highly damaging for the image of Singapore, which its authoritarian government touts as an island of paradise whose image has been brought down by another two notches.

Credibility is not related with big title (CEO, Professor), high class member (Rotary, American, Tanglin), etc.
Action and result speak louder.
In this era where there are free/open medias and readily available info on your finger click, the surveys do not buy trust.

Any result or survey come out from Gov. mouthpieces or associates does not go very well with Sinkies nowaday.
Trust between Gov. and the people on the ground has been shaken at this magnitude...

Sinkies happiness could be identified as: -
1) Economically - 9/10 for riches, 3/10 for poor.
2) Media freedom - 0/10.
3) Welfare in healthcare, unemployment - 0/10
4) Family and friends - 5/10
5) Outlets for anger/ unfairness - 2/10

Please advise if the above ratings are ok?
Probably, Eden survey is quite lean toward economic success.

Me... happy enough to share, but feel painful about unfairness and high-handed policies.

As if being least emotional nation in the world was not enough, Singapore has claimed yet another title - we are the most unhappy one as well.

That's according to international pollster Gallup, at least.

Based on a poll of nearly 150,000 people worldwide conducted in 2011 - the same one that branded Singapore as emotionless - Gallup's reading into the results put Singapore at the top of the list of countries where the fewest adults experienced positive emotions.

Singaporeans were apparently less upbeat than the people in places like Iraq, Yemen, Afghanistan and Haiti.
